Super to see both Su'A and Pangai in their debut game!

Yes Gordon .... I'm sure Wayne makes his decisions on what is most likely to get to you.

Tallis played under Bennett at the Broncos but says he never planted chicken wings on anyone.
No, he would just punch blokes, drop the elbow in after he tackled them, dump blokes on their head.

All of those can cause far more serious damage than a chicken wing.

Punches can kill. As we have seen numerous times after those young blokes were killed by a king hit.

And that elbow on Steve Simpson, what if he got him in the eye and permanently blinded him in one eye? Or worse, hit him hard enough that he got brain damage?

“He said tackle hard and fair but he never told us to go out to deliberately hurt the opposition.
No, you would just go out and do it yourself.

Gordon is a fucking hypocrite.

Gordon is right. Blair is not captaincy material. He has been suspended twice this year. McCullough should have been made skipper.

So Blair is not captaincy material because he has been suspended?

I really hope you're not serious.

I could list a bunch of great captains that have been suspended multiple times...

I think you're right. Glenn has played 13 but the rest seem to have all played only 4 at most

Edit: supposed to be quoting coreyh88

Saw a funny comment on one of the articles about Bennett and Tallis. Tallis's nickname should be changed to the raging bullshitter.

Suspensions for mine are irrelevant when determining captaincy material witth a few caveats which don't enter this case. For example, I don't see Blair as a brutal, vicious, nasty piece of work whose intent is to hurt a player seriously and deliberately. That kind of player ought not be a captain, a leader, unless you're a bloody Viking a few thousand years ago.

Captaincy is all about leadership: leading by example, motivating players and knowing what's happening in the game at any time. If Blair does that, great.

For me, I would have preferred Macca. I have this view that the best captains mostly ... Mostly, come from halves or hookers, positions where the player knows or should know, and be part of, every element of the game plan, everything that makes the team work, and of course have those leadership skills. Personally, Ithink Macca fits that bill.

I am so excited for this game. It can be difficult to find the time to watch many games outside of the NRL and now we get a chance to have a look at the young fellas playing pro. If we can hold our own in the middle I'm confident we can have a convincing win.

I think this is actually a pretty important game for us, with the Sharks and Storm on the bye this week a loss will mean that we will slip to being 4 points behind the top spot. Those points could prove difficult to make up.

We need Hunt and Milford to really lift in this game and take control.

Think Milf will have a blinder tonight to make up for his last game

but we will still have our bye in hand effectively meaning we will only be 2 points behind top spot

But it's taking things out of our control and basically gambling on the Sharks and Storm losing that round.

With the team with have, particularly the number of our regular 1st graders, and essentially that spine, I honestly cannot see how we could lose this game against the Tigers.

How can anyone possibly contemplate a loss with this side against them? C'mon... if we lose this with Kahu, Milf, Hunt, Macca, Roberts, Reed, Blair, Glenn, Wallace, Offa ... we really can't be taken seriously as premiership contenders... and that's my view and I am sticking to it very seriously.

I used to believe that Macca would be our future leader, but now i'm not so sure.

He'l always be the solid tackling machine in the middle of the park, giving good, but not great service to the first receiver, but as far as being a leader and motivating/organising/inspiring the troops i just don't think he has it in him.

Looks to me like WB has given Blair this position of captain for a reason, to inspire him to lead us to a victory over his old club. Maybe he's also been made captain to show him that Wayne thinks he's not the monster that the media is portraying.

It's quite sad how Gordy is these days. I idolised him as a player, these days he is just a cockwomble.

I share your misgivings about Macca.I agree with the logic of Blair as captain. However, I just think Macca needs to be given a chance. I just sense rightly or wrongly that he has it in him. For me the real question is does he want that responsibility. If not, then no, he will never make a good leader
