I dont care that he slipped. What I do care about is watching him give up on plays that lead to 2 other tries. Thats half the reason why we are in this **** because the players obviously think they are better than what they are. Too afraid to work.
It's one thing to make everything simple, another to over simplify.
Gillett did slip when he sprinted out of the flat footed defensive line. Yes, a mistake. The grass should have been dry and/or he should have worn 6 inch spikes but in any case, we know he does that and a lot of the time it is very effective.
At the same time, one would think that as soon as one or more defenders see him do that, you would think that they would move to cover the hole he leaves - move forward and to the relevant side.
The 2nd try was clever work by the Raiders. They saw Kahu was fucked, they saw Norman way out of range to cover, Hodges moved (the wrong way) instead of waiting to see which way the dummy half would move and there should have been a 2nd marker on the short blind anyway. Gillett was exposed, a back rower marking possibly the fastest winger in the game.
An oversimplified scapegoating of players is way too easy - and you also conveniently forgot he scored a great try
