POST GAME Round 13 - Warriors vs Broncos

How does Maranta's stepping on the touchline compare with Lolris dropping the ball from a tap in Origin? It was embarassing, though I guess nothing but Paul Carriage will compare to the Morris moment.

The obvious is Marranta and Reed were dismal. I actually felt sorry for Marranta because once his confidence was shot it was only going to get worse, and it did. Reed is just too damn slow. It is getting borderline comical now and it's just time to move him on.

The not so obvious is just how disappointing that Roberts is both in defense and attack. In attack he just doesn't demand the ball and make it a point to find a way to receive it in better positions, that said I think he should be on the left side. His defense yesterday was just woeful, I mean really shocking as if to say I don't really want to be out here. If that doesn't improve quickly than you really need to move him on.

Now for me the shocking thing about the Broncos is how the hell can we have absolute riches of forwards coming through the ranks and not one young hooker that can join the ranks? Not one? Was this a massive oversight, are all our feeder clubs playing with g uys on the field... no number 9? The reason that Wayne doesn't play Kodi big minutes is he is too small, likely more a half, and can't absorb the position for big minutes. Maybe we really do have to think about trying to pick up Segurya for the remainder of the season.

We've got Travis Waddell, but he's not first grade standard either.

What is/are the differences between the Roberts of the Titans and the Roberts of the Broncos... and why?

I'm baffled

Easy really, they recognised he was a weapon out there on the edge and threw the ball to him (early) whenever they could.

I'm sure it has to be a part of Waynes gameplay that we are always going to the opposite side in attack, but really ..... they should be able to adapt during the game and work the opposite side instead, as they did in the second half yesterday.

I'm looking forward to seeing if anything changes re:Roberts for the Canberra game.

No one is saying that either, but as usual there is no middle ground. Of course the team isn't powering to the grand final to win on current form, we are in the middle of the origin period where provide the most players, coming up against teams that are virtually unaffected (in the Warriors case not affected at all, at home, after a bye).

There are reasons for current form and the side has a long time to get it right. But if you want to keep having your sky is falling tantrums so you are your mate can call yourself 'realists' then go for it. You have as much right to do that as the rest of us do to try and actually be realistic and see things for what they are.

this guy calling out people for having 'tantrums' ... smh

Agree about your 1st line .... I'm still baffled however as to why we go left so much. Sure Oates can be a game breaker, but then one has to get past Reed (lol) and on the other side of the field we have another game breaker in Roberts (and of course Gillett).

I've seen Milford work the right with Roberts what seems a very few times, I've seen Roberts come across field a la Hodges once or twice this season ... what a fucking waste of speed and step!

Who the **** is our attacking coach?

Is Roberts out of favour with Bennett?

Well, I guess it took the Warriors 13 games to realise they had Johnson ....

Yep, our season is over. We're spent. We're fucked.

Is what I'd be saying if that was indicative of our full strength team. But it's no where near it. Most of us predicted exactly what happened. Missing our defensive rock in the middle, our defensive smasher on the right, and our best set-starter on the left wing. We were never going to win that game against a full-strength (besides RTS) Warriors side that not only contributed zero players to Origin but were coming off the bye. Last year we had the luxury of someone like Stagg willing to spend the season in Q Cup just so we could recall him for one cameo and have him hold the middle of the field together. We can't ask him to do that 2 years in a row.

Our playmakers can't do shit while the forwards are being dominated. End of. Hunt could still come up with two Try Assists in the very few opportunities we had down the Warrior's end. Milford is trying hard but again, like Roberts, when the opposition's defence is on its toes and is not fatigued, we can't expect them to make errors or be sloppy, giving Milford those half-chances and Roberts some space. Similarly, dropping balls left and right, making dumb shit errors like Maranta did all night, and having zero ruck control meant the Warriors had every right to steamroll us.

Next week, not only should Oates not make (as many at least) stupid errors, but he'll get our sets off to a flying start. Gillett will smack the living shitfuck out of whatever half decides to run near him. Thaiday will be back on the bench and think himself lucky to even play limited minutes closer to the middle, where he can't be exposed as the lazy grinning **** that he is. We'll still be a bit loose in the middle until Macca is back, but hopefully Bennett learns his lesson and plays Waddell there, which will be better that exposing Nikorima to big minutes or compromising our props by playing a less experienced player there instead of McGuire.

If you can honestly sit back and believe that this Broncos team will even make a grand final, you're a better fan than I. They are no chance.

we need to move quick on guys like su'a and ese'ese before some other club does.
ill prob cop a bit for this comment but i think we should consider moving blair on sooner rather than later. yes he does a bit of clean up work but he is getting long in the tooth and really doesnt offer a hell of a lot through the middle.

We've seen too much of West Tigers Blair this year. He's been disappointing.

Too early to start writing the season off, that's for sure.I have faith that we can come good. We are in a form slump,we need a bye to refresh physically and mentally. When do we get a bye? After the Canberra game?

So you think full strength, the team that has beat the Cowboys once and lost by one point in the second game is no chance? Honestly?

With the warriors dominance yesterday, the bounce of the ball going their way all match and the refs giving them a decent leg up, we only lost by three tries. We had two tries disallowed which in many other matches would usually get let go and some of the tries that the warriors came up with were freakish.

No denying we are in a big flat spot though and have some tough games coming up. Forwards need to stand up. The last few weeks has to have hurt their pride.

Guess I can count myself lucky I wasn't able to watch the game yesterday.

Watched the highlights, and whilst I know it's not the full picture, looked like Maranta had an absolute mare.

Still think we'll regroup after Origin and be a threat. Far too early to write off the season.

Same here and I agree. It could be worse - we could be Warriors fans. Total shit to start the year and a waste of natural talent because of something going on inside their heads. Origin time comes and they play like world beaters with all that talent on display. Post Origin and they go back to being plodders who look like they have no interest in league anymore.

This year our away games record is pathetic. We lost to panthers, cowboys, sharks, warrior. The remaining season away games we are playing with bulldog, storm, rosters, dargon, rabbits. The remaining game of the season are very hard. Broncos are playing twice with storm, bulldogs, roosters. If broncos need to reach in grand finals they need to be finish in top 2 or 4. If they finish out of 4, they can't make it to grand final. So far this season our forward are get dominated. Our half's hot and cold. Half of the season gone. They need to get seriously toward the remain season. I am not sure what gone happened next week.
