POST GAME Round 13 - Warriors vs Broncos

What do people think about possibly signing Segyaro,, playing him Hooker, Kodi to 7 an Hunt can find {hopefully} some form in the intrust cup ? Something obviously needs to change other wise 2017 is gone if it isnt already.
People know how critical I am of Hunt as a halfback, but this is just silly. Kodi is even less of a halfback, and has possibly an even worse kicking game than Hunt.

Any suggestions of punting Hunt would have to come with a realistic alternative, and we have NONE at the moment.

Ah i hadnt thought of the kicking name, not sure if Kodi has one either but he possibly doesnt. I dont know it is just frustrating. Hunt has been in the NRL for several years now an first grade half for long enough to be a better game manager than he is. Heck , Ash Taylor has only played first grade for a short time but already looks like he has more idea then Hunt. Some thing is just not right with our team.

Like I posted before the game, this game didn't bother me that much. The Warriors were always going to turn it on and they did. At their best - although we (and the refs) made them look better than they really were - they can be as good as any side ... every 3-6 games when they are in the mood.

My point is that with our full team, we will be there at the end. This is just the usual Origin hiccup.

My only question mark is why do we go left so much? If we are going to do that, then move Roberts. He needs quality ball. If not, then replace Reed with Kahu.

Reed is a roadblock to our attack.

Thaiday for mine is really on thin ice. I think he contributes very little.

Exactly!! I dont understand this constant strategy. It does not make sense. If they favor the left, fine. But please put James there instead of Reed as he offers nothing in attack. Jimmee an Oatsie would be lethal. Or Kahu there would be great too. But we persist with Reed an Maranta for some strange reason. The question is , why?

i reckon questions really need to be asked around our guys in charge of recruitment. without wayne coming back we would not have boyd, roberts, pangai or ese'ese (all bennett signings)
we spend a mountain of cash signing a heap of juniors each year but nothing is really there on the radar and this has been the case for a few years now. moose was the last prop we developed and he played 20's a fair while ago now. we also had to buy milford in even though he grew up in logan.
apart from oates and to a lessor extent kodi we havent really graduated much quality, especially with the numbers we sign and cash we spend at a junior level.
should we be starting to turn up the heat on our so called recruitment gurus????
taylor and j nikorima are some what exceptions but thats about it.
where are our outside backs???

It's still Nolan right?

Yeah we definitely need to focus on prop and outside back development a bit. I think Drew + Gagai were our last proper graduates? And both at other clubs. I hope we can clean out some dead weight this year in Maranta, Reed, Eden (basically gone) etc. I also feel a lot of players are happier to go on the Sydney merry-go-round and play first grade inside 12 months rather than play QCup and sit behind (in this case terrible) incumbents till they're 23-24 with us, which I also can understand

At least I'm 2/2 with tipping.

You're emotional......have a cuppa and lie down for a while.

As much as we still have games in the bag, this year is quickly slipping away.

Yes...we've gone from 1st to 3rd in a little over 3 weeks

....season is gonskis .....stick a fork in us ...yada yada yada

Get a grip FFS.

First time post for me guys. Our left side was terrible - maranta and reed...just awful with Oates back that should save reed so I'd look to drop Roberts who's defence was horrendous.
biggest loss was Macca where ruck speed got out of hand and lazy marker defence particularly joffa really cost us.
draw is not kind to us but we had enough good players to win that. Do we bight the bullet and start kodi to see what we can get out of him?

First of, hi Rico. Extremely impressive first posting an one which makes a heck of a lot of sense. I completely agree with your assessment an especially the points about Reed an Maranta. What do they have to do wrong to get dropped ?! Has Bennett completely lost the plot

Anyways, lets wait an see the team line up for next game before we get too angry.

Look forward to reading more from you

nolan is at the club now, he came back with wayne. but its the other flogs who are still there who date back to the henjak, griffin era.
i agree with your comments big time about heading to sydney to play grade. i reckon we stack to many players and go with quantity over quality. i cant begrudge any kid heading elsewhere to play grade elsewhere, the financial gains are too big to deny.

Talanoa, could you please provide your assessment ofthe broncos centre in the Holden Cup today? Sorry i forget hes name but he scored a couple of tries i think an the last of the game which was a brilliant effort! The commentator said he is also a junior Kiwi player. Completely impressive an i wonder if he could be ready for first grade any time soon ? He looks to have first grade written all over him .

I will await with real interest the point when you come to the realisation that there is a real issue.

i think you may have been referring to isaako? to be honest i think shibasaki has more upside to him.
isaako was tested at q cup level this year and was found out really badly. he is still young and learning so upside is there and may come on, but for mine i reckon shibasaki is probably a better long term option.

Thanks faithinhook. Nice to get the first post under the belt. Your right mate - hopefully this charter plane lands and we get some rest for the raiders with a good list to choose from. On the upside got some good minutes into rookies tonight and our bench is on the up just a shame a few seasoned guys look like they are on the slide....onwards!

"season over"
"stick a fork in us"

blah blah blah. You don't win a GF in June for FS. If this is happening come the last round, then we can be worried!

No, but finishing top four is essential for making it and losing these games compared to last year where we won them all over the origin period is the difference between finishing top four and not.

Yes thats him! Thanks for that. I was really impress by him but obviously you watch a lot more of all the Holden Cup and Q Cup games then me so you know much more then me about all the players. Even so, i will track hes progress as i would like to think isaako will continue to improve hopefully.
