Not to be a ref whinger....but

FMD we seemed to get the wrong end of the stick sometimes......it certainly didn't help things.

Can't possibly blame the officiating after the past month of footy. We have been shithouse. Dominated in field position every single game, and with some of the names in our front row, that is just baffling.

Its really not rocket science. Would you have rather he tried to take the high ball under a lot of pressure when he hasnt got the best hands as it is ( which you would probably have wanted so you could have a dig at him again if he dropped it ) , or just play it safe and tap it back to a player with nobody on him. Hardly Oates fault Sailor made a mess of it.
If the play came off Oates would have been declared a genius. However it was certainly unorthodox and in that situation it's either defuse the kick or get ready to tackle, the tap back is very risky from the defensive side.

For the same reason why it was risky in the grand final.

Sailor should have made a better effort, but Oates will have a spray coming his way come the review and deservedly so.

I hope they're ready to watch the Mitch Kenny try again...

I mean I don’t want to but I’m gonna…he’s not been great this season. DEFINITELY not for what he’s getting paid and probably why Bennett never forked out that much for a prop.

I mean lets be fair, the poor bloke has had a lot of private bullshit to deal with .

Was only able to watch the last 20m of the 1st half, glad I did by everyone's input for the rest of the game :raaage:

I gotta say Riki's footwork before the line does nothing and ain't fooling anyone.

Mam was off, no real spark, seemed to just go through the motions with his passing.. and yes our sets outta our half was crap.

Lol he's returning from knee surgery. It takes time to return from knee surgery. He has been still the upper echelon of forwards but not what we are used to

That was hot mud.

Couple of things, we aren't pushing up in numbers in attack like last year. We are way too one out and it's just easy meat for the defence. Last season we were up in numbers and teams couldn't handle is when we got on a roll.

Also, we are getting very little second phase play in attack. Last year, Flegler and Palasia were very good at this. We were able to break up the defensive line, allowing Reynolds, Walsh Mam to run riot. We just aren't doing that at all this year. It's all well and good not making mistakes but in today's game with defences so strong, you need to have something to break it up and throw something at the defence. We are getting **** all second phase and it's killing us.

Our back 5 aren't giving us much coming out of our own end this season. Other teams, even poor ones, are killing us in this area. We just don't get on the front foot at all at the moment from our outside backs. We need Arthurs back badly and we need to find someone else that can make some metres.

Defensively, we are a shadow of the team of last year. Obviously hasn't been helped with all the new combos week in, week out with injuries but **** me, some players need to lift or we'll be out the back door before semis even get here.

Lastly, I know we are way off, and we are playing poorly at the moment, but some of the takes in here are pretty embarrassing. Facebook embarrassing.....

I agree. Rikki us great in so many areas but boy I wish he would just run the ball straight into the smaller man's chest. That shimmy just let's blokes get underneath him and push him backwards

You'd hope that both Baker and Goeski aren't on that bench...yeah?

Yeah I’m not sticking up for them, but who else do we go with.

Aside from Willison what else do we have?

Willison
Hetherington
Te’Kura
Smoothy

Lot of if’s in that rotation (form/injury)

Last year we had a rotation of Flegler/Haas/Jensen & Palasia.

We peaked last year and we’re in a bad hangover.

Any winger trying to take the ball in that position is still taking a risk. Oatesy knows his limitations and for him tapping the ball back to a free player i still think was the best option in that particular instance, and Sailor really should have dealt with it comfortably, he just took his eye off the ball and made a hash of it.

Tbf, we are also looking at it with the benefit of replays and hindsight. I'm sure if i got back and watch the game again i could pick a lot of things we could have done better.

As i said in another post though, i've got no problems with any criticism of him, i just think its weird he's getting singled out when we had other players far worse than he was and very little is brought up.
