Round 14 - Broncos vs. Tigers - Post Match Discussion

I didn't notice that and will rewatch but what did he say? Like what do you think he was trying to achieve?
I am not sure but definitely looked like he wanted whoever it was to run to the other side of he scrum. It seemed he had enough. Look at his defence last night and it would be just about the worst I have ever seen from a first grader. He did not look like he was trying, maybe he is carrying an injury

BM also got on outside of man last night and chose to pass to marked man.
if you want my honest opinion B4L, he did not have a go at all. Why??? I do not know. Could be many reasons

Saw something very interesting from the stands last night when Gillett scored.

Hodges, Maranta and Prince were first ones there to congratulate him, and Hodges looked around and nobody else was even towards him so he yelled at the rest of them to get their arses over there and give Gillett a pat on the back. The rest of them then jogged over and he finally got the "good onya mate" that he deserved.

I know composure is important, but you'd think a team with good unity wouldn't need Hodges reminding them that they need to show some appreciation for a good effort. Was disappointing to see. And the worst thing was the bloke who was last to arrive - Captain Sam. Hoffman beat him over from the other wing.

Couple that with his comments about Hannant in the press conference and I reckon last night was a perfect example of why Thaiday should not be captaining this team.

Thanks for passing that on Jeba - you miss these things when watching on the telly!

I still can't believe he said what he did about Hannant. That is the last thing you want your captain to be saying FFS. Very disappointing.

I completely agree! I was seriously annoyed at Thaiday for saying Hannant has to prove himself, Hannant has been the better player than Thaiday for a long time IMO, he should be supporting his team mate, not talking down his chances! I understand when it was for McGuire because he didn't want him to get big headed after one game and missing so much time but Hannant is a proven player, not a new guy. He's played for Australia, QLD and won a premiership, the same as Thaiday has done in his career so it's BS he somehow thinks he can talk him down for rep selection.

That's why I think Hodges would be a great captain. Pity he isn't interested, but then, as you posted, he says and others do. I like Hodges a lot

Tbh, I think the worst sin Thaiday committed was the way he brought the message. I'm pretty sure he would've already known about the Qld team selections by then...
Still, he definitely needs to make room for someone else to captain the team.

I also saw this at the time but had forgotten about it.
It CONCERNED me a lot.
This made me wonder whether there is division in the team and whether it is to do with Sam. It would explain a lot of things

It's definitely not the first time it's happened this year. Lachy Maranta has done a couple of good things and made some mistakes which have gone unsupported. It'll be more noticeable when you become aware of it.

Yeah I agree with everything that has been said, especially in regards to thaiday. I'm completely over him to be honest and it seems like he is untouchable. He's not a captain. Our captain should be Hodges or Parker, full stop! To be completely honest I would have Thaiday go to another team if that was the only way for him to lose the captaincy

Something else that stood out the other night was how every time we got the ball we had someone ( Kearney ? ) behind the ruck. He didn't even look like he had a water bottle, just following and calling plays (I think ).

Also the Tigers strapper at one stage running toward the ref and signalling 6 again when they lost the ball. The NRL have to **** that shit off.
I admit it's a pet hate of mine which got reignited after Palmer actually interfered and stopped a NSW player from playing the ball in game 1 because HE thought there might have been a high shot.

It was great to see the Broncos play as a team again keep up the good work were still in with a chance of makeing the 8. Defence still needs a lot of work. Attack looks 100% beettttteeeeeer when we support and pass the ball. Corey Norman to the corner and write 1000 times i must pass the ball. Mcquire showed a bit more startch off the bench. Hala needs to get fitter he run out of puufff after only 10 mins on the field FFS. Over hunt off the bench we may as well have an extra forward Anderson/Lui when maccca gets tired put gleenn to dummyhalf.

He made 10m per hitup for 16 hitups, made the 2nd most metres in our whole team, 4m behind hannant, who did so with 6 more hitups in 19 more minutes on the field. not really sure what more you can expect from him. his work rate was far and away the best of anyone on our team.

Yep, easily his best performance of the season from Moose and a timely reminder of why the club is so confident in their abilities.

Unfortunately, that effort at the end on Sue was embarrassing. Granted, it wasn't 100% his fault but sticking the arm out was embarrassing - it literally was a turnstyle tackle.

It's efforts like that which have held him back all year.

In saying, I'm glad he's a favourite on here and elsewhere. Any player who plays the game as rough as he does while risking his eyesight has my respect.

Shout out to Jeb and Splinter for the stadium reports. I thought the behaviour of our players was telling and (at times) pleasing. Did Parker pick up the on-field MotM as well?

I agree with Dexter. I HATE how long trainers are out there, how often, and how much they seem to get involved in guiding teams around the field. FFS, it's not under 6s. These are grown men that don't need their daddy out there telling them where to run!

in regards to hodges calling the rest of the players over, i noticed it on tv and my first thought was that he was calling for a medic or something as someone must be hurt because of the way he was motioning. was wondering why he was turned around doing the 'come here' motion with his hand.

there is definitely a divide in the team its been going on for some time. dont really know what the cause of it is. bits and pieces combined i think. prince coming. norman leaving (and his lack of effort). thaiday possibly.

did anyone see hoffmans interview with lara pitt that they showed pre game?

he was talking about his form this year and just said that all he wants to do is put in 110% every game and play with energy at all times, and that hopefully that will rub off on some of his team mates and inspire them to play better themselves. im not sure if it was a subtle dig at norman cos it led into him saying how he is determined to get the fb jersey back.

whether or not him going back to fb is in the best interests of the club is another story but just thought his choice of words were interesting. he's been a great winger/centre for us this year. tbh if we dont get barba or another specialist fb and he wants the job i'd be happy to give it to him because his effort this year has been better than anyone elses at the club.

It was Prince.
