Who doesn’t believe it? You are acting like everyone is screaming Madden is the answer and you are some kind of Maverick by claiming he isn’t.

You might wanna wind the clock back about 5 weeks ago and look at all the smoke that was being blown up his ass.

The season is over. It was over when Reyno blew his bicep, because we lost a tonne more with him than just a bloody good kicking game (which we're also missing a lot), but just his footy smarts. Without him this team is so low IQ it's frightening, and Madden has shown nothing to suggest he can make up that loss. He is trash. I'm sorry but that is the way of things. Bring Black in for a game or two, it's not like things can get much worse.

We're in the market for an experienced halfback within the next 2 years, whether people want to believe it or not.
Agree, although the highest paid half out there by a long way was equally bad tonight.

Injuries have ruined this season, no flow and burning out those trying to cover the loses

Complacency also a huge concern, we tried to start the year the way we finished the last and the more it doesn’t work the harder they try and the worse it gets

Watching some of those 1st tackle options makes me wonder if they can grind out a win or they are just trying to add to their own highlights reel?

The rain didn't help with the errors, but we really need a plan b for failing to score first. That sort of looks like an Achilles heel at the moment.

There is NO team that has ever won an NRL premiership without their 2 best players and it’s crazy to suggest that we are any different.
1 is 15 months off retirement at best - unless there's another big injury.

The other is yet to re-sign.

This isn't just gloomy, it's fucking spoony.

What shits me to tears is that Walsh will front up for Origin, no worries. Meanwhile his club is in dire need of a player of his calibre to get us out of this rut and the thing is, they'll absolutely be going for his head again in the next game.

I notice a lot of posters holding out comments. Particularly the fan boy Posters. No name's included, as I'm sure you'll return the favour.

I said last week, Kevin will survive, but none of the coaching staff. How do we feel about the coaching staff? How do we feel with the way we play the game?

All Harlem Globetrotters like. 80 plus points on them, defend the errors?

Hold on to the fucking ball! Write that on a whiteboard and have them stare at it for 3 days on end nonstop. Wet conditions or not, we continually put ourselves in bad positions.

The live thread is always full of emotion, but I loved Cobbo’s involvement tonight. He did plenty of great things, dampened by plenty of errors.

Wolfie mentioned the same about Staggs; he wasn’t great, but his involvement was high, his defence was good.

Plug Walsh into this game and it changes everything; he doesn’t get dominated like Sailor does, he takes better options, he poses threats that open up other players.

Plug Reynolds into this game and it changes everything; Maddens kicking game was putrid, not just the actual kicking, but the positioning of where he kicks from

We are missing, quite literally, the 2 biggest cogs in this team. We all need perspective that we can’t have a system that adequately replaces BOTH of these players. Walsh without Reynolds and vice versa, we can patch together wins. Both of them out and it’s game over which is the same for any team in the comp.

There is NO team that has ever won an NRL premiership without their 2 best players and it’s crazy to suggest that we are any different.

I agree with your last sentence, but i also think if our system wasnt built around Walsh and Arey we might stand a better chance of getting by without them for a while. Its how the Storm used to compete and how Penrith do. Trying to get another player to replicate Walsh or Reynolds game is nearly impossible for a backup player.

Pucker up boys, Wahs away and Penrith up next
Yeah the team we fervently support for 12 months is on the precipice and will need exhausted players to back up from a three game exhibition series that’s still held midweek for some reason, but HOW GOOD IS ORIGIN?

Willison and staggs are the standouts for me this season.

haas and carrigan champions as always but they are either playing busted and burning out from covering our losses.

Piakura needs to be dropped for a stint. Mam not far off either. Sailor has no confidence needs time in cup

Bit of positivity wouldn’t go astray. I’m not talking about 2025, I thought that was obvious, but I didn’t count on you trying to interpret it.

I said it a few weeks ago…. What the **** is up with these 20M, end over end kicks from Madden??? Almost all of Souffs kicks were floating torpedoes from the belly of the ball…. And let’s not again say… “If he gets it wrong blah blah blah”
This is your job. Practice them. Use them. Or find another job.

ARey has been painting over a lot of cracks in this team.

They are unfit. Few sets into the game and guys are already hands on knees.

They can't hang onto the fucking ball to save their lives.

Lost in attack without ARey and can't just chuck it at the fast guy at the back and hope something comes of it.

This has all the hallmarks of a poorly prepared team. Can't construct even good quality defence. Can't even defend against a forward catching a cross field kick - not even contested.

Piakura is not the solution. No idea how he got selected for Origin camp, his defense is brain dead unless they run right at him.

Madden has had a good period now to start showing signs of life and is found wanting.

If Reece isn't right for the next game, Arthars to centre and Cobbo to FB. Sailer is proving even more error prone than Walsh with none of the upside.

It would be different if we were a well drilled team down on star power - we have players struggling to compete at NRL standard for passing, catching and tackling. Billy threw about 4 passes in a row at madden that almost went over his shoulder.

Starting to look like 2023 was all ARey and Walsh sparking the attack. Take them out and we're back to 2021 form. Rudderless, coachless and without a fucking clue.
ARey made us a top 8 team, and Walsh on top of that made us a grand final team. Without them, we seem to be back to 2021. But that means with them back we can still turn this around.
What did mam learn from origin camp? Hasn’t fired a single shot since
I think he's just much easier to defend against when there's not other threats for the defence to worry about (especially with no Walsh). Madden and Sailor don't seem to know how to put on plays...

We are the worst team in the comp. Just lucky it was Souths as most teams would have put 40+ on us. I lost count how many times we lost the ball on the first tackle. Cobbo is back to making a break then losing the ball either trying a hail mary pass to someone not in a position to catch it or just plain losing the ball. In fact I'm struggling to remember a game this year where Cobbo made zero errors.

Willison was easily our best forward tonight with Haas going a lot better in his second stint as his first was dismal. Sailor two games and two howlers. Madden is looking very standard. Solid but just dishing it out the back in a block play at the end of a set won't cut it in the NRL. If we don't make the 8 I'm hoping Mozer gets a run in a few games because out current hookers are bog ordinary.

I don't get the terrible ball control. Also noticeable that once Souths got to 18 nil the whistle went back in the pocket. Thanks Adam Gee. Lastly a shout out at Voss the one eyed Souffs fan on the Fox commentary. Being obviously that biased is the sign of a shit game caller and Fox really shouldn't give the dud the call in Souths games.
