Remember when they were missing Papenhuyzen then lost Munster just before halftime against the Eels in Magic Round and went on to win 48-16 ?

How do you reckon this Broncos group would’ve fared under those circumstances ?
Just can't see us making the 8 this year, we are an absolute rabble at present, no structure and just hope that either Walsh, Cobbo or Ezra pull a rabbit out of the hat with Harlem Globetrotters type footy. Reminds of when we used to throw the ball to Jimmy the Jet and hope he would out run the opposition.

Clutching at straws. It was over before then.

Respecting the ball. Building momuntem. Dominating territory. Opportunities come.

Classic Bennett games. How's the dolphins doing?
In 10min patches they have conceded 3 quick tries in succession in the last 3 games. The games were not over at all. That’s not clutching at straws, they aren’t resilient, they can’t break momentum, if they concede one, they are likely to concede a second, and then a third. None of what you have said contradicts that.

Save it for the board. Who do you think will survive end of year review?

We haven't recovered from the loss of Flegs, Herbie and Capewell - their experience, skill and energy. This team is nowhere near what we were last year. Then take out ARey and we are a rudderless mess made worse without our main weapon in Walsh. Carrigan can't be expected to do everything on his own. Letting Capes go was a bad idea. Our bench is weak. We are no chance this year sadly.

Not keeping Flegler has so far been an absolute blunder from the recruitment team.

This forward pack has no intimidation factor. Flegler brought that. We got bashed by Royce fucking Hunt for crying out loud. Who cares that he wanted elite money, he's a fucking good prop.

I don't think we had the ability to keep him tbh, Willison is our flegs replacement but he is a year or two away from getting the best out of him that said I think he has a higher ceiling, it's easy to forget he is young he is younger than even Walsh.

It was unfortunate he wasn't available last week it would have made a big difference, this week though I think we were just clearly outplayed.

Was the Sailor back-flip pass to Mams first half try forward? Seen lots like that given against us this season.

Not saying that would have made a diffference, but it might have.

I said it in jest this week about using Willisons new baby instead of a ball to force them to not drop it. Now I’m not joking. Get a grip fellas, this is embarrassing now.

So we’ll be without Riki for the next month now too. A long way back from us here and with very poor depth. Blokes need to take pay cuts or we won’t compete

Stayed up all night Thursday so slept through last night.

I'm glad I did. Probably saved myself a year of life due to blood pressure and stress for those 2 hours.

We'll see how origin goes in terms of injuries. The Warriors game is an absolute write off. Rest everyone and accept the 50 point loss. Then go hard as **** at Penrith. If Penrith towel us up that's really all she wrote.

I'm so disappointed that this season is turning into 2016. Fans want to go one better after a heartbreaking GF loss, and the team just dies, with our GF hero fading fast (Ezra).

I don't think Walsh would have made a difference tonight anyway, chances are he would have been throwing his desperation passes and handing the ball over.
I think he would've made all the difference. We would've leaked fewer points and scored more. He would've been marshaling the backs from behind, combining with Madden and Mam, and riding Piakura. We would've won this game.

My biggest worry about so much of this is Walters post match how he feels that there were good parts to that game? Where were they? He will 'look at the positives' well that won't take him too long to review.

I am just now truly seeing how important Flegler was to us, Jensen is decent but he isn't a starting prop, Riki has gone off the boil, Piakura decides when he wants to play and as much as some defend him Madden is absolute rubbish, just simply can't kick far enough I feel, every set sides are starting 10 to 20 meters off their line, then out inept forwards get belted and make next to no ground and that lack of kicking distance gets further highlighted.

Over all I think our recruiting for what we lost last season was poor and we are paying for it now.

1. Sailor 2/10 worst game ive seen him play, just looked disjointed in attack and made a lot of errors, almost a 1/10
2. Mariner 6/10 one bad read in defence and one average error, but scored 2 tries, one he shouldn't have scored & that was pretty cool
3. Kotoni 6/10 had some real ticker but made a few annoying errors , stinging D
4. Cobbo 4/10 threatening but kept on dropping it early in the set. He looks gassed. I think a week off could do him wonders.
5. Karapani 7/10 I thought he was our best back, few good runs, no errors and alright in D
6. Ezra 5/10 bit one dimensional tonight, but tried to make things happen. Also looks super fatigued.
7. Jock 3/10 that first play kick really set the tone of the night, where was our direction? not good at all.
8. Haas 6/10 first stint was... Kinda bad? Second run was average Haas which is better than 90% of nrl props
9. Billy 7/10 actually thought Billy had a decent game, was threatening with his runs and defended fairly well
10. Jensen 6/10 quiet... Perhaps too quiet. Didn't notice first stint, and 2 good runs in the second.
11. Piakura 3/10 brain dead in first half and then retracted into shell in second half
12. Riki 5/10 I think he was both good and bad. His chance down on Latrell was epic and he tried to put some hits on but it just wasn't coming off.
13. Patty 6/10 big effort but he looks fatigued as well.

Hetherington did nothing 4/10
Gosiewski did just slightly more than nothing 4.1/10
Smoothy was pretty one dimensional and non-threatening 5/10
Weapon X was the only sub that had impact, and for mine he was our best forward last night 7/10

Overall, we look tired, slow and dumb. Not ideal. It's not looking pretty for the boys, I think tonight showed that Sailor can probably fill the void if Reyno is playing, and Jock can fill the void if Reece is playing... But they can't operate a spine together. Those 2 and Piakura were our three worst, sailor by a pretty comfortable margin.

The problem is no Reyno, but I don't know the answer. Probably just play safe as hell and try to frustrate the opposition into making mistakes. It's just whether or not they, as a group, can do that right now. Everyone looks wrecked.

It's probably more due to how many players we are missing from last year but I kind of think alot of our issues are coming from dummy half. We got away with hookers that never ran last year because we could afford to with so much strike power but now we just look like a team that receives the ball flat footed after every tackle. They don't even have to even run, we just need some sort of momentum around the ruck for our forwards to run onto. I would not be surprised to see Mozer in the team next week.
Its like half of this forum don't even watch the game. Billy ran for 75 meters last night, that's great for a hooker. Also we had plenty of momentum, our forwards nearly outran souths despite having 61 less tackles!!! Not to mention our average set distance was higher, play the ball speed too

Souths ran for 1874 meters, we ran 1814 meters despite having 61 less runs and 43% possession. We also had 746 post contact meters to Souths 769.

We absolutely thrashed them in the middle and Billy had a great game, all of the stats point to this.

The issue with our performance last night were our handling errors and our halves. Mostly handling errors.

It's the Panthers curse.

The teams that faced them in the GF's that they won, had a crap season the next.

we made enough decent line breaks to put more points on the board. But every break we tried a silly kick, silly pass or just dropping it. a quick play the ball would have been much more beneficial but this team has no idea how to build attacking sets and maintain pressure.
