ARey has been painting over a lot of cracks in this team.

They are unfit. Few sets into the game and guys are already hands on knees.

They can't hang onto the fucking ball to save their lives.

Lost in attack without ARey and can't just chuck it at the fast guy at the back and hope something comes of it.

This has all the hallmarks of a poorly prepared team. Can't construct even good quality defence. Can't even defend against a forward catching a cross field kick - not even contested.

Piakura is not the solution. No idea how he got selected for Origin camp, his defense is brain dead unless they run right at him.

Madden has had a good period now to start showing signs of life and is found wanting.

If Reece isn't right for the next game, Arthars to centre and Cobbo to FB. Sailer is proving even more error prone than Walsh with none of the upside.

It would be different if we were a well drilled team down on star power - we have players struggling to compete at NRL standard for passing, catching and tackling. Billy threw about 4 passes in a row at madden that almost went over his shoulder.

Starting to look like 2023 was all ARey and Walsh sparking the attack. Take them out and we're back to 2021 form. Rudderless, coachless and without a fucking clue.
When I saw Brendan in camp I couldn’t believe my eyes!
Can he run a line?
Sure.
The dude is an absolutely sieve in defense though.

It is hilarious to think that people are already blaming the coaching staff. NRL coaches aren't going to coach the team to hold the ball. Handling errors are usually part the coaching agenda in under 7s..

Tonight's performance was all on the players. Didn't do their job. Catch the ball, run the ball, hold the ball. etc.

Sounds like Riki will be fine. Murray said it more hit him in the chest.

Joey wasn't convinced Riki didn't get him square on the crown, from behind, in the dark, when Murray was still underage.

Johns wrote an article that goes against what he said in the heat of the moment during the broadcast:

What he was getting at tonight was that Riki only got 10 because Arrow was relatively ok.

He didn't get sent because he wasn't trying to take his head off.

That kick on the first tackle said it all for me. Not willing to play smart or build pressure. Mam not much better though to be frank.
Mam got a new pay check and is just skating through the year. He once said he would love to be a leader once ARey retires. . That’s laughable if he continously do plays like this.

Sack them all you reckon?
Haha. Did I say that? More just an observation of questionable roster calls. Madden is a back up half so can't blame them for that selection. Offers no organisation in regards to shape and doesn't play eyes up footy. Kicks ok to the corner. Josh deserves another shot.

Piakura is a worry. Showed similar characteristics in q up.

Marina finishing v start of sets is polar opposite.

Perhaps I’m an absolute nutter but we looked good tonight for the 8 sets we actually held the ball. We held the ball for 5 minutes and scored 2 tries.

But, FMD why were we so loose with the ball for the rest of the game? Why was there no plan to play wet weather footy? Diabolical!

So what are the coaches there to do?

Are the players smart enough to have a system not built around a Reynolds?

Feel like we've had the dumbest squad for a long time... pack of athletes and not enough footballers

I actually reckon they can do it. We are obviously going to improve with him there, but i do think if we simplify and have i guess a more basic game plan we can build on with better players then it leaves us with less margin for error. We are still trying to play this big play, high risk, high reward style without players who can do it. We arent earning the right to play right now.

My own opinion as i said in the live thread, is we need to try to recruit a few solid, older heads ( hopefully center and back row ) who might not be flash but just do their jobs and do the 1 percenters. We cant keep looking for the big plays. I think our cap has got our of balance again.

We have to win against Penrith in 3 weeks or our season is toast

I suspect we will see a better all round performance against NZ, by then the media will be getting stuck in, every single thing will be against us for that game. It won't be too hard for Kevvie to get the team motivated.

NZ will be odds on to win that game, $1.20 or something, they themselves have struggled to reach their heights of last season, they were very poor at the start of the season until they turned it all around with an upset win against Penrith. I don't know that they handle expectation too well.

His asking price would be way out our reach but I reckon Crichton is the sort of player we need

When does Walsh come back? I can’t watch Tristan anymore. Please. It’s painful. So, so, painful 😢

I don't think Walsh would have made a difference tonight anyway, chances are he would have been throwing his desperation passes and handing the ball over.

I'd like him, but as you say, we cant afford him and if we could it would probably throw our cap out of balance even more.

I just think its time we invested in workhorses who just turn up and do their jobs. They are just as important as the Walsh's of the game imo.
