Funniest part of the night was with a minute to go, souths make an error and Sailor is excitedly gesturing the team to form a scrum in some sort of deluded notion that we'd be able to score as many tries in the last minute of footy last night than we had in the previous 2 hours of footy.

Top stuff Sailor, epic lulz.

Its like half of this forum don't even watch the game. Billy ran for 75 meters last night, that's great for a hooker. Also we had plenty of momentum, our forwards nearly outran souths despite having 61 less tackles!!! Not to mention our average set distance was higher, play the ball speed too

Souths ran for 1874 meters, we ran 1814 meters despite having 61 less runs and 43% possession. We also had 746 post contact meters to Souths 769.

We absolutely thrashed them in the middle and Billy had a great game, all of the stats point to this.

The issue with our performance last night were our handling errors and our halves. Mostly handling errors.
I'm not suggesting we get rid of Billy, we actually looked alot better when he came back and started threatening around the ruck.

I'd like him, but as you say, we cant afford him and if we could it would probably throw our cap out of balance even more.

I just think its time we invested in workhorses who just turn up and do their jobs. They are just as important as the Walsh's of the game imo.
I don’t mind the idea of one of the butchers, or someone like frizzell who could go another year.

Sorry, I thought you said something about the hookers never running, our lack of momentum in the ruck for our forwards o run onto and that type of thing........

We just have too many liabilities
Riki and Piakura offer very little impact and they miss bad tackles, make mistakes and give penalties

The sides Achilles heel last year was our errors and we’ve only gotten worse this year

Injuries have obviously played a big role in our weak defence

Riki is about 5 times better defensively over piakura. In fact I think piakura and riki could swap sides because at the moment having our two worst defenders, piakura and mam defending next to each other is killing us.

It was the errors that killed us in the GF, and errors (and poor discipline) killed us again tonight.
I definitely thought Staggs showed alot.
Billy made 2 half breaks with no support.
Mariner needs to find a way to get more metres in yardage - no impact atm and often driven back.
I wouldn't be averse to dropping Sailor and Piakura. Not sure who covers those spots but 2 diabolical games in a row...
And I don't understand Madden's kicking - he has the tools, just not using them. He also needs some work at digging into the line. This is a Reyno special so put in the hours at training.

Riki did run down Trell when Sailor failed to....

Yep.....I would have laughed if it wasn't so fucked seeing your backrower overtake the fullback to make a last ditch tackle.
Sailor either isn't fully fit, or is Corey Oates type slow
....or has no heart.

Piakura gets more disappointing with every game. He needs some time back in the reggies.

I think the club has made a really poor call with him
He’s not up to consistent first grade, certainly not the minutes he is currently playing

Apparently Piakura had some massive wraps from inside the club in his junior days. Jharal Yow Yeh was actually more hyped for Piakura then Walsh at the time.

It's his team. He bought Lee Briers in to be an unseen within the NRL of an attacking onslaught. No team, could handle Lee Briers mastermind. Attack, attack, don't worry about any other aspects of the game.

Kevin Walter's pushed all his chips in. I'm all in Briers.

What a load .
What I hear consistantly from Kevvie is defence 1st .
Or does he just say that because it`s a catchy turn of phrase ?

It's probably more due to how many players we are missing from last year but I kind of think alot of our issues are coming from dummy half. We got away with hookers that never ran last year because we could afford to with so much strike power but now we just look like a team that receives the ball flat footed after every tackle. They don't even have to even run, we just need some sort of momentum around the ruck for our forwards to run onto. I would not be surprised to see Mozer in the team next week.

Billy ran more than ever last night .
Didn`t seem to make a difference ?
