What about
@BooKhaki ?
Sept last year Kennedy was the worst footballer in the NRL. Couple days ago he was demanding he be on the bench!!!
Is it possible? What changed his tune? Was BookHaki wrong? Or did Kennedy buy a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of ability during the off season?
He was often making great post contact meters the past couple of years but was making the same handling mistakes that Flegler does. He was told and obviously has worked on it. Was the only flaw in his game. Good defender too. Drives hard.
His last season was classic dud, end of career Boyd, sans a handful of games. He just played on way too long and wasn’t any good.
In my mind the captain should be held to a higher standard, not lower.
I'm guessing you fellas are talking about Glenn?
He's been out injured the last few years. He looks like he's put width on physically and is slower as a result. The year before last he was filling in at centre and defending admirably, but he's definitely slower now and should never do that again - he's too slow. However, he does is position himself correctly in defence. Sometimes that's more important than a good tackle. The young fellas can learn a lot from that. TPG and Riki are often caught out in defence on the edge, due to positioning and reading of attack. TPG might be beyond that position now (old dog stuff) but Riki is coming into it.
If Alex can get them fired up (comes form him in his performance first) I see reason to keep him in the position and as captain . Requires getting the bench right, which should never be the norm but makes sense for us now till the end of the year.
With the exception of the odd batch of games here and there, he's close to coming back from 2 years of no football. He hasn't even had much chance to captain. However I'm sure the young team respect him immensely. Most of his issues are fitness I'd say.
Really surprised that I haven’t seen Herbie mentioned on here. I thought he was fantastic taking the hard runs to get us out of trouble. It makes a huge difference to our forwards when you have outside backs willing to get stuck in.
Herbie is a fantastic on his feet. Can move 360 degrees with the ball in hand, plus he's fit, strong and fast, and he can also run a line. If he develops a passing game and better reads in defence he will be an exceptional centre. The last play of the game today where the Sharks went the length was glaring for his misread. Any other player I'd say lazy, but it looked a bad misread.
Hopefully he can develop into a Brent Tate style dummy half hitup merchant. I still think Herbie is better on the wing
That's Herbie and Tessie. Both have great potential.
RE: Tessie. He needs a big off season under the high ball.
Just employ MILF on a $100g a year contract to throw the team down his spiralling bombs at training. Over and Over and Over and Over. It's a win / win. Tessie will smash it with an off season of that, and MILF has a job. Kinda like Alf. :D
Tessie needs to make catching those spiralling bombs second nature. He's got the confidence to do it. Doesn't have to be Bradman /Jordan or even Slater dedication. However if he does work hard on it - the sky's potentially the limit.
Today was a good win to give back some confidence. Had a feeling of turning a corner and some "Broncos of old" vibe about today's win. I'm really happy for the team and club. They deserve it.
