Round 16 - Broncos vs Rabbitohs - Post Match Discussion

Griffin is ruining Gillett. I thought the selection of McGuire at lock was an indication he had gone cold on playing Matty through the middle. Obviously not.

Though the result didn't go our way. I am happy with the effort of our boys. Tackle count was 394 - 269 so to make an extra 125 tackles and not counting that last try (as it came when we knew it was over) we were only down by 10. Take away that stupid strip penalty and the try that came from the next set, the score drops down again.

You can't defend a freaky try like Norman's, just magically how the ball just seemed to float into his hands.

In attack we couldn't mount anything as we were never allowed and spent most of the game coming out from our own half and didn't get any favourable penalties to help us when under pressure. How can you guys blame Te'o for missing the tackle? It was a great step by McQueen on both Te'o and Hoffman.

We will learn from this game and if we can defend like that and get our attack right, I will be more than happy. Souths of old would have let in an extra 3 tries with the amount of pressure on our goal line. We are starting to build into team that plays like a top 8 side.

Sorry about the calls, it shouldn't have been that way. You were understrength missing one of your best players in Burgess and keeping up with a full strength Broncos side at home. Goodluck and hopefully a rematch in the finals will happen.

In fairness, we were missing Hannant & Yow Yeh too. Both current internationals. Hala would have been handy off the bench, but yep, Souths have got plenty of improvement in them and they're looking like a Top 8 side.

Souths showed exactly why McGuire has been hired tonight, they were beaten in every department tonight except effort and sometimes if you dig in for long enough even though you are getting dominated you can still be in it with 5-10 minutes to go. We really should have had this one by about 50-55 minutes in but the Rabbits showed plenty of ticker tonight. They will be there come finals time and any side that has Inglis in it can never be written off.

On us I thought McGuire, Parker and Civo (although he was only in brief stints) were all fantastic and our key position guys Hoffman, Norman, Wallace and Macca all had moments of quality but all probably tried a bit too hard, which is understandable when you keep bashing your head against a brick wall like they were. As some have said Griffin is really not using Gillett well enough, I like Glenn but we don't need him out there for 80 minutes and he is great defensively but in attack he does little damage and someone like Gillett on that fringe is going to create a bunch more room for the guys around him.

The strip was stupid, funnily enough when Bird threw the ball away in origin and got a strip penalty Gus thought that was ok.

As far as Teo getting blamed he deserves it. He charged out of the line looking for the big hit and f@cked up, he left a hole my Nanna could have gone through.

I know that but Yow Yeh is gone for the season and is only a winger so i dont consider him to be much. 2 players aren't a huge difference IMO.

Yow Yeh isn't on chump change, losing him still affects our side.

Hannant was a big loss out there tonight and easily equates to the loss of Burgess.

Can't use injuries as an excuse.

Regardless i respect your Opinion.

I respect everyone's opinion. :P

I also respect our victories. :)

Broncos were awful, but got 2 points. All you can ask for at this time of year

I still haven't got an answer to this.

Can you knock on in your own in-goal?

Then what was up with Farrell knocking on in the second half?

Never saw a replay and the commentators didn't bat an eye lid.

They got it wrong I guess. Ray Warren just made a comment about not being able to get offside, cause he is senile.
