Round 16 - Broncos vs Rabbitohs - Post Match Discussion

Really? 28-12 is awful?

I thought we were pretty good, we gave Souths no possession or field position. If we play like that every week we won't lose many games IMO. We lost last week due to having no field position, this week was the opposite.

Take out Teo's stupid rushing off the line and a bad pass which led to an intercept and we gave Souths, a very good team, absolutely nothing.

Our defence was fine. Our go forward was fine. Our halves, hooker and fullback couldn't create a fight at the Normanby. Whatever they did create they ****ed up with stupid mistakes.

What's it going to take for Hook to get the attack DEEPER? Ball gets to Hoffman? Play dies. Ball gets to Glenn? Play dies.

Sure, Souths defence was good and put us under pressure, but we don't do ourselves any favours by playing so flat. Any defence that's half decent will shut us down easily.

Scoreline doesn't reflect the game IMO.

Oh. Agree with Twiztid, the stripping call was harsh.
And Kaz, you're 100% wrong. you can't be offside in your own in goal, but you can knock on. It was most definitely a knock on from Souths on that occasion.

Hoffman, Norman and McCullough play for themselves too much. Wallace plays for others more, but he doesn't really have that much talent.

This.

And the fact as others observed, Griffin doesn't know how to use Gillett and his bench rotation remains odd.

I dunno who changed it, but he seems to just be used as a battering ram these days.

Maybe it was the opposition but I still think we had better shape & Norman had his best game with Hunt as halfback.

As for Gillett. His best season occurred when he played on the left fringe. I rarely see him out there and it didn't surprise me at all to see him make a mini-break tonight running in that part of the field.

I didn't think Matt was that bad tonight. Couple of strong runs when he came on. He just wasn't Civoniceiva.

No it's not.

You can knock on in goal I suppose. But if you do recover it's just going to be a drop out if ruled on correctly.

And you cannot be offside in your own in goal. You can be offside in your opposition's in goal.
I think there's a bit of confusion here - I think The original post of "you can't be offside" was taken by kaz to mean that if you are offside in your goals then it's a penalty, whereas it was meant to be taken as "you can't be penalized for offside while in your own goals". Right?

You're essentially saying the same thing, just in opposite ways.

You cannot be penalized for being offside in your own in goals when your team has the ball. That's the rule. Ie. someone puts a grubber in to my in goals, it hits my legs and goes forwards to a player on my team who was in front of me when I hit it, and he picks it up. In the goals this is fine, but in the field of play it would be offside.

It wasn't stripped, he tried to offload. Bad call. The 2 passes leading up to copleys try were miles forward. Bad miss by refs.

On the game, we won so I'm happy. It's round 16 not 26 so form means little at the moment. Don't want to pull a Bennett team and peak too early. Or a 2012 Bennett and get the wooden spoon :D

Oh and another powerhouse showing from McGuire. He just keeps getting better and better. Parker played awesome too.

You may well be right, could be just a case of miscommunication rather than misunderstanding.

On the forward passes to Copley, agreed, but it makes up for the clanger against hoffman early in the game. No way was that inside ball from Thaiday forward. Flat at worst.

Front on angle certainly gave me that impression. But the reverse seems a bit damming.

It definitely wasn't clear cut.

Had to win in the end with the amount of possession and territory we had. Real good win by the boys tonight fought hard and ran the Bunnies off their feet in the last 20 minutes. There is a guy at school who says Peter Wallace is the worst half playing in the game, what are you thoughts on this. I think he was the best of the guys tonight.

Not even close.

Wallace is better than...

Adam Reynolds
Ben Hornby
Scott Prince
Ray Thompson
Josh McCrone
Luke Walsh
Chris Sandow
Kris Keating
Tyrone Roberts
Jeff Robson

And he's as good as if not better than Mitchell Pearce.

It only leaves Cronk, Marshall, DCE & Johnson. Based on this season, I reckon the latter two are debatable.

I hope on the footy shows over the weekend they show a different angle of the knock on or touch back. I am watching the replay and they need to zoom in or show a replay to see if Farrell touched it or Hodges touched it, I originally thought it was Thaiday but it was definitely one of the other two.
