Round 16 - Broncos vs Sharks - Pre-Game Discussion

I would have lowrie starting off at lock. His defence is solid and we will need his experience on the weekend. Gonna need a decent game from our backline to make up for some pretty key losses in the forward pack.

I'd be fine with Lowrie, but I'd drop Stagg and use Jayden Berrell perhaps off the bench. Maybe even drop Lowrie too and promote Molo or Ofahengaue. Both were outstanding on the weekend.

Spot on there mate. Thought niko played well also. Would love to see a 6 on his back this weekend.

Id be going with this team for the weekend.
1. Barba
2. Vidot
3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. Copley
6. Hoffman
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. Granville
10. Hannant
11. Glenn
12. Oates
13. Thaiday

14. Lowrie (I dont know why people dont like him. I think he has been great in defence this year. Doesnt make much meteres but i can live with that at this stage whilst we have some injuries).
15. Hala
16. Wallace
17. Molo / Im sure Hook will go with Stagg though.

If Parker is back which i dont think he is then Molo / Stagg drops off the bench with Parker at 13, Thaiday at 12 and Oates onto the bench.

Our full strength side looks far far better on paper.
1. Barba
2. Vidot
3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. Copley
6. Hoffman
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCollough
10. Parker
11. Glenn
12. Thaiday
13. Gillet

14. Hannant
15. Oates
16. Wallace / Hala / Molo in that order
17. Lowrie

You rate Hala too highly, IMO. Molo has a pretty big motor for a big guy. Otherwise, I like the team - even though we're still playing the worlds best Lock Forward out of place to accommodate people in the Backrow.

1. Ben Barba
2. Daniel Vidot
3. Jack Reed
4. Justin Hodges
5. Dale Copley
6. Josh Hoffman
7. Ben Hunt
8. Josh McGuire
9. Jake Granville
10. Ben Hannant
11. Alex Glenn (c)
12. Sam Thaiday
13. Todd Lowrie

14. Jayden Berrell
15. Francis Molo
16. Corey Oates
17. Jarrod Wallace

Jai Arrow for Molo if Molo is suspended. Cullen for Berrell if Jayden is injured.

Wouldn't be against Oates starting but would prefer to have him come off the bench fresh and throwing him straight at Carney.

I like the look of that team a lot BP. I've lost faith in Hala, and would have Molo in his place.
I also think Lowrie can do a good job at lock, leaving Thaiday to play where he is at his best, the fringes!

Finally, having a proper backup for Granville is really a no brainer, and Berrell has quietly been doing a great job for the U20's.

Agree with your team, Pete. Lowrie plugs the middle defensively better than Thaiday does, IMO.

Big Pete are you stripping Hodges of the captaincy and giving it to Glenn. That's a bit harsh

My bad!

Keep forgetting we have co-captains.

I'd like to see Wallace and Hannant start at prop with McGuire shifting to the 13.

1. Barba

3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. Copley
6. Hoffman
7. Hunt
8. Wallace

Only Hala to cover the prop rotation?

That is the only prop we had on the bench on Saturday night.
Yeah, but Wallace isn't a 60 mins prop like Hannant or McGuire.

Besides, that right there, is one of the reasons we got overrun through the middle...

Well with my set up we have an extra prop in the side so I can't quite work out why you are complaining?

Just start with Lowrie at lock IMO. Get him making hundreds of tackles, that's all he's really good for. Him coming off the bench is worthless.

Any word yet on Gillett ?
Honestly I think it will help us having lost last week to come into this game with some more determination, instead of thinking oh it's just the sharks and we've won our last 5 games...
