Round 17 - Broncos vs Sharks - Build Up Thread

I remember a game 6 years ago against a high flying Cronulla outfit. Brisbane had 11 players unavailable (Hunt, Tate, Hodges, Berrigan, Lockyer, Ennis, Civoniceiva, Thaiday, Carroll, Stagg, Michaels) against a Cronulla side missing 1 (a young Gallen). Yet, our forwards stood up big time that game, Parker, Webcke, Thorn & the rest of the team followed to record our 2nd best performance of the year (just behind the loss that saved our season).

And there's a couple of instances like that, 05 & 07 were very similar instances so hopefully Hook has gotten in the ear of Glenn, McGuire and has got them playing out of their skin because we'll need it.

Shane Perry had a great game too.

I can't believe that was six years ago! I still remember that game like it was yesterday, was highly enjoyable.

They might show it on Fox Sports 2 this week.

Shane Perry had a great game too.

They pretty much all did but now that I've been reminded of it on LU, Seymour was close to our MotM that afternoon. I remember it bought him a few more games after the match but by the time we lost to an out of form, JT less Cowboys side the writing was on the wall & his off-field incidents became too big to ignore.

Whenever I hear concerns about losing a talented half like Norman or Hunt I'm just reminded of Brett. I've never seen a more talented junior half handle the early stages of his career as well as him (he was outplaying Lockyer at times...says it all) yet you just see how quickly his career fell apart.

Bennett doesn't get enough credit for that decision. Choosing Perry over him played a big role in our 06 premiership.

Love these types of games. We're definitely depleted but we seem to have pretty good coverage coming in. There's a drop in talent but definitely not endeavour.

While the loss of Carney is significant Cronulla still have an excellent forward pack so I'm predicting a grinding type of game. Most importantly our halves combination remains intact. IMO that's the key and we should be able to create plenty of scoring opportunities. We're a big chance.

It would be a really handy two points to bank with the bye next week.

gettin itchy for the team list (even though it can probably be guessed). doesnt look like anderson is back judging by his response on twitter "not sure ATM but still working hard to get back."

I wonder why Baptiste is on the extended bench?

I would expect Matt Gillett to be added to the team. I don't think he will stay in the Qld 17

Anyone know why Frei hasn't made an appearance?

Was wondering the same thing. Someone must be in doubt.

Isn't Whitchurch a back also?

Whitchurch can but he also plays in the backrow as well.

Sharks have a good line up too, dont get cocky.

Sorry, i haven't checked the official team sheets, but is Pomeroy playing ??

He's been in good form for the Sharks...playing real strong.

I'd be a lot happier if he's not there
