POST GAME Round 18 - Bulldogs vs Broncos

Also so frustrating seeing the try to Vidot disallowed when it was clearly a try and the try to Morris allowed when it clearly wasn't a try.

Far out man.

Don't have Foxtel anymore and couldn't get any er, alternative viewing solutions to work.

Decided to avoid it all and try and hold out for the replay on the NRL website - alas, I couldn't. Just read through the match thread without knowing the result... pretty tense experience!

Chuffed to get the two points.

Someone elsewhere mentioned the Bulldogs have a very defence draining forward pack, far more than any other side in the comp. I think it showed, our players looked really damn tired towards the end. And we play them again. Gotta give the Origin players some breaks over the next few weeks...just not all at once.

Does anyone else get really really really frustrated when Vidot takes a hit up? Everytime he tries his stupid little step and loses all his momentum. He weighs 118kgs ffs. Just run straight and hard. If he had the courage of Kahu he would be a tank at the back. Not even sure why he is in the team....

3. Parker
2. Thaiday
1. Parcell

You get these calls, good teams will find a way to move on and get the win.

Except if it happens in the dying minutes of a close game with no time to reply, also known as being 'Cowboy'd'.

Not even sure why he is in the team....

Cause he can carry blokes on his back and isn't pushed around meekly.

Yeah, Vidot is rarely dominated in a tackle so he is always able to get a quick play the ball.

Boyd on the other hand...

He should just give it to Vidot whenever he gets the ball.

18 rounds in and already more competition points than Anthony Griffin could conjure up in the last 3 seasons.

Impressive stuff from the Broncos.

Not the greatest performance, but to win in those conditions isn't something that can be scoffed at and they really beat the Bulldogs at their own game.

Was very impressed with all the players that backed up. Parker in particular was a stand-out. To get through the amount of work he does, and fight in those tackles against one of the best defensive team and get in offloads is outstanding and the Broncos are really fortunate to have somebody of his calibre.

He wasn't alone either, I thought all the Origin representatives brought the same enthusiasm back and I couldn't be any prouder of them.

Also think Maranta deserves a wrap. In a lot of ways, it was a typical Maranta performance in that he went over the sideline and bombed a try (as hard as it was) but he was still able to come up with some really tough plays that challenged everything about him as a footy player. I think wingers more often than not are confidence players, so to concede that early disappointment yet come up with those plays while under immense pressure should be applauded.

Finally, I really like what I'm seeing from Parcell. He's still a little unsure about himself but when he just decides to run the ball forward he's elusive and defensive teams have a hard time trying to get their hands on him. While it was a good play from McCullough (one of only a few, I thought he was quite poor ol' Macca) to send Blair over, I thought Parcell's run was just as integral.

I really hope we see more of him. While I was as disappointed as anybody to lose Granville, I think Matt is just about the perfect replacement.

We have now beaten every team this year except for the Dragons, Rabbitohs and Tigers. We play all three over the next two months.

Bombed a try ..... LOL

It wasn't a laughing matter at the time, but glad somebody saw the funny side in Maranta's missed opportunity.

Better wingers would have been able to reel it in. It was a good effort, though.

I would like to see that play more often. I loved seeing it from Karmichael.

He would usually put kicks behind the defensive line whenever he saw they were up too much and it paid off for us on a lot of occasions.

They weren't always chip kicks. Most of the time they were grubbers, but I would love to Milford and Hunt do it more often if they see the defense is up too much.
