[Round 19, 2021] Panthers vs Broncos

I havent. He was a tackle bot with no running game and no decent service from fummy half. Exactly what Turpin is doing. There is know way you can say Macca is a dead weight but not Turpin. He's offering nothing Macca doesnt or didnt. Now i'm not a big fan of stats at all, but statistically, Macca and Turpin are scarily similar this year. In fact, Macca is offereing more in terms of running and try assists than Turpin. He's no improvement at all and he's going backwards.
I can say that, and I can offer as scant proof that we had the choice between the two and Turpin won out. Everything Macca did was slow and telegraphed. Turpin is faster. But that extra speed has seen him spray some woeful passes, and whether it's due to exertion in defence, he's hit the talent wall, or he's not being directed by his halves, he lacks the vision to direct the team with his service.

Is anyone telling him what to do? I doubt it. He's playing proxy captain out there in the leadership vacuum around Lexy. He doesn't appear to be up to that role. No one in this team is.

It's plausible Reynolds might be able to take up the slack there, the way Hunt does with Macca, but I agree with you that he's unlikely to be our premiership hooker.

BTW..how long have the player stats been at the top of the page?

Well done sirs. 👏

A few weeks now since we added them to the Pre and Post threads. The live thread has had it for a couple of months now.

Glad to hear you like the added features and my dog now mate.

He does things a little differently, but he isnt doing it any better or worse than Macca did.

And just because Walters picked Turpin that doesnt mean a lot. We are balancing the cap, and the cheaper option with less time on his contract won the day.

Now...what do all the columns mean...?

Oates, Farnworth, Niu and Isaako have all been playing like forwards. Forwards who don't offload or pass. That's a big part of our attack problem. We have all these backs settling, none of them supporting, none of them looking to pass. Bullemor and Hetherington made them look like Carrigan.

For all the shit being dumped on Flegler, at least he's trying to develop an offload like TPJ, albeit flung backwards with his eyes closed, rolling along the ground.
Oates hit ups are exactly what is expected of him. At least he gets the quick play the ball and doesn’t get wrestled backwards like the others. It’s the ones that don’t pass when they should that is the biggest problem.

No-one mentioned......the dog.

Haven't seen the game yet but I was browsing the stats. 80 min for Glenn? 58 metres? 9 hitups !!!

Really? 🤮

My boy Rhys's stats look okay considering he got a lousy 26 mins.

I don't know if I'm being harsh but Herbie has been shit. He can't beat his opposite 1 on 1 and he never fucking passes.

Am I being too harsh? As I see it, he's only suitable for wing.

Not being harsh at all I don't think. I'm a fan but at this point he is definitely a ball hog. That said, he generally seems to get the ball while being swamped so you can understand that ball security would be preferred but there have definitely times where he's had the chance to set up his outside man and hasn't.

I thought Kennedy was good. Developing a nice offload.

Been on about this all year, and if he doesn't undergo a massive transformation in the off-season I see him being next year's whipping boy. I think he should be back in the ISC.

Here's our problem with Herbie:

1. We all like him, and can see he's a hard worker.
2. He doesn't have a passing game. Which makes him a winger.
3. We have enough wingers around his skill level. Including Isaako who can also kick field goals.
4. We rarely see his speed or step, but we know they exist.
5. He has Pearl's ear, who has Kevvie's ear. He's unlikely to get dropped.
6. He's up for renewal in 2023.
7. If it were this year, he wouldn't be earning a contract upgrade. But he'll be expecting one.
8. He'll probably be at a new club in 2023.

I suppose you could say it's still developing but honestly, I've been watching him quite closely as you know😊and he's always had a good offload. In fact his team mates have let him down with little support offered.

Were I coach I'd never have started games without Haas and Kennedy up front and would have demanded every run had support trailing. They've both got good hands.

I noticed the scores didn't update immediately last night. Who should we blame for that?

I swear the opposition don’t even mark up on Oates because they see what we see. That gives them more numbers to shut Herbie down. I really hoped Herbie would be the one to finally link up with Oates given the issues we’ve had getting the ball to him in the past.

I expect him to be better than To'o. Is that too much to ask?
