POST GAME Round 19 - Broncos vs Tigers

Where did you get the buck costume, and do they have adult sizes as well? I ask because a friend of mine wants one...

The buck costume was a gift to my daughter from my boss, I can find out for you where she got it from if you like.

This is the outfit

Easy game. The boys had a bit of a breather after half time but decided to play again for the last 20. Nothing serious enough to warrant complaining.

I have to disagree. While we started and finished in terrific fashion, that lapse in the second half was concerning.

To concede a single try wouldn't bother me so much, but allowing three in quick succession showed our inability to regroup and get back to the game plan. Our execution and handling went out the window care of trying too hard to compete. Much better to stick to basics and grind them out until momentum swings back in our favor.

16 points is a fair foothold in any match, and a better side than the Tigers may well have kept running with that momentum.

In fairness, once we did get our groove back we did put the stamp on them. It's a measure of how far we've come when I have the inclination to nit pick over a 26 point win.

Would like to see us go to the right a little more, as our left centric attack is a little predictable (in terms of preference, not execution) . Admittedly the Tigers right edge was ripe for the plucking, and Milf has our left running like clockwork. I thought Hodges looked a bit off the pace last night, so perhaps it was for the best.

Still can't believe Maranta got a hat trick. Fair play to the kid, he's really made a fist of it this year. Wayne made a point early in the season about having to cement his place, and he's certainly risen to the challenge.

While two of Marantas tries were relatively easy ... The second try he scored is an indication of how far he's come IMO. I have no doubt he would have bombed it in previous years.

Totally agree. That and the near miss in the air and wet are real efforts he's come up with. Solid work.

Well, I remember saying a while back that at some point Maranta would get a hattie and his career would be off but it has been already. He is becoming a genuine SOO contender in coming seasons if he keeps this improvement up.

Really the only thing that was missing from that game was the dejected look on Robbie Farah's face after another comprehensive defeat. Other than that and a little clock off in the second half, a very dominant performance by the boys.

The things that impressed me the most we our intact defensive line. It was a rare sight not to see it fairly straight and moving up as one, the faith they have in each other also shines through here, they all marked up on their man without hesitation showing unwavering faith in the defenders next to them to take their man, and our boys were always moving, even when turned around having to come deep from our line all Broncos were always moving to get back and help out. Even early on you could see Tiger players standing waiting for the play to come to them and not trying to get back to take the hard yards. These are things you do not see on Tv and it all impressed me alot. Our boys have their heads in the right place.

I can't help but have the feeling that we are not quite there yet and we are going to get found out, I don't know what it is. The Rooosters are looking the goods at the moment. Hopefully we will keep improving, but I have concerns about Souths and Roosters coming home over the top of us.
This. The above is a good description of my feelings too. What I am happy about is who we have left after the bye next weekend ! Seriously though, after the Tits we start to play teams we rightfully should fear as they are not the same teams as at the years beginning. Instead they are battle hardened and at the business end of the season so not until we have played the last game of the season will we really know. I'm wavering , at first I'm convinced and then I get to thinking and realise like lynxoooo says, I don't know what it is but I still have a niggling doubt.

The Roosters looked good against the Warriors but their last few games against the Titans and Panthers, they've looked terrible. The Rabbits are a far worse team than they were at the start of the season. They didn't know how to lose at that point, remember?

Is the nagging doubt the fact we have not a team this good in years so it is awkward to feel we are contenders with mainly the same bunch of mediocre players as last year?

Remember, when the Roosters won two years ago, all they did was change the coach, implement new defensive structures and bring in two or three key signings just as we have. We have every reason to be excited and see ourselves as contenders.

The Broncos are in the same boat. We are battle hardened, at the business end of the season 2 or 4 points clear in first place. Our halves are performing as good as any pairing in the comp, and getting better. We are the best attacking team, damn near the best defense team... I really don't know what more this team can do or could have done to convince some of their title credentials. Even if we don't go all the way this year has been a success.

Bennett came in and did what I expected, layed a platform of defence so that everything else can work off the back of it.

The Roosters did the same thing and they improved in attack as the season went on, just as we have.

Don't misunderstand , I know we are genuine contenders it's just that I don't remember us being well down on the scoreboard against a good team and then rallying to a hard fought win. It's the performance under pressure, that composure a winning team has to have when nothing's gone right and we are struggling. Of course if we win and win well, leading from the front for almost all the match that question won't need to be answered. It will just be academic but not having a great general like Lockyer or Alf but having capable lieutenants instead will leave the question unanswered.

I can see our strengths but a team has to keep identifying its weaknesses. I hope we don't get ourselves in a tough situation but sometimes a fuckhead ref and a bad run of luck can conspire to wreck a season. For me, there is still a question mark on the team. I'm hoping that when that situation is foisted upon us we can be the team that rises above.

To be honest I think there's a question mark over every team that's in contention. You couldn't help but question the the chooks, rabbits and Cowboys.

We weren't behind but it was backs to the wall against the Storm, they were without Cronk but it was a great defensive effort

We were only down by a try against the Roosters but it was late, they had momentum, and we clawed it back.

In a way the last two posts support my view partially at least. It's the situation I dread when we find ourselves down by 14/16 points against a top side and facing a real test. Never mind me, I'm just about convinced we are the real deal this year and the pessimist in me still has a small voice....
