POST GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Cowboys

Not sure if this was noticed in the live game thread but i believe the key to Ben hunt playing well is his defence, when Ben Hunt is at his best his defence is good.

I remember Andrew Johns used to say this about Mitchell Moses when he wasn't playing to his potential, and then all of a sudden i noticed Moses playing out of his skin and what do you know his defence had improved massively

Oates was one-on-one with Coote.. Who do you think wins that?

Yep a few of us said it at the time, that was disgraceful and nothing was said of it by the commentators. That should have been a penalty to us plus a sin-bin, given it stopped Oates from probably scoring makes it worse. Throw in the ridiculous penalty against us straight after which I'm pretty sure led to an NQ try, hard to say that didn't probably cost us the game.

I think he grows with success, and a successful tackling helps that. I think the biggest difference on friday was the fifth tackle options milford was taking. It took the pressure off hunt and gave him more time with the defence having to play both sides of the ruck. Its the main reason i was happy to forgive milford's errors. It also means milfords growing as a play maker.

By the time Hampton lays hands on Oates, I think he may have just run himself on-side.

That's a huge play from Ben.

Let's review.

Oates is tackled 19m out from the Cowboys line, setting the mark at 9m. By the time Hampton lays a hand on Oates, he's a good metre if not more behind the 10m line.

Admittedly it's close, but it isn't a shocking call by any means and as it turns out a huge play from Hampton.

I just screen shotted the two spots, it's 8m, 9m at best. Not 2m sure but in real time in any other game, that's a penalty and a sinbin.

Regardless, that sort of desperation was missing at times from our boys and it was ticking me off, very unQueensland-like.

I think the rule is something about being out of the play completely if you're behind the play the ball i.e. you can't be back onside no matter how far back you run when you start behind the play the ball

That's when you've got the football @BroncsFan

If a player is in-front of the play-the-ball they're deemed out of play and can't be involved until the next play. We were pinged for it in the 2011 Double Header against Manly...and then I think Manly won a 2015 game against Canberra despite being guilty of the exact same infringement.

That rule is right up there with Torso Tries and our current 'oh you fouled a player...well they scored so...no harm done, play on' BS.

Yeah just checked that... it still looked a penalty live and also forced an error. Had we held I think advantage to us is fine but considering it forced an error I think they should've blown a penalty.

For the refs to then compound it and blow a nothing relieving penalty and let cowboys out of their end just stinks of manipulating the result

After watching that forward pass I'm not so gutted about the loss. I haven't seen the game, was driving trains while it was on. Couldn't be bothered with replays as I need to sleep when I can so I've just seen the replay of the pass on yahoo sports and ffs, it was a shocker ! We didn't deserve to be in extra time

They were also awarded a try which was a knock-on after Morgan lost control of the ball and it hit the Broncos player that tackled him.

He regained control and scored.

Really a forward pass for the first try means we may as well have packed it in and not compete for the rest of the game....

What were your thoughts on Morgan's try then???

Not to mention the pass to Morgan to juggle was also considerably forward from memory.
