So I get the feeling Ben Hunt didn't play this weekend. Maybe he is carrying an injury?

Oh yeah, I was going to get to the bottom of that for you.

It appears that since he traveled with the Broncos as 18th man, Hook opted to keep him with the squad instead of releasing him to Norths. Might sound like an ordinary decision but I can see merit behind it - Smith/Riccardi could be one of the best combinations in the competition and since they've been together all pre-season I don't think the Devils would have been happy to have Hunt disrupt that.

Seagulls would have liked him this afternoon but I'm unsure how player affiliation is determined and whether the club can be flexible.

It stands to reason why we don't have a dedicated second tier team but I'd imagine the fate of the Clydesdales probably turned the directors off the idea. Much easier to spread the talent around while having access to all their junior nurseries.

Cheers. WOuld be nice if they spread the talent out evenly or at least tried to.

One reason the Broncos don't have a solitary feeder club is because of the way the Toowoomba relationship went late in the piece. There was a sense of entitlement from them - they felt that because the Broncos were dependent on them giving their players games that they could get whatever support they wanted in return.

While the Broncos weren't happy with the Clydesdales demise by any means, they certainly weren't in a rush to have such a relationship again.

So they have relationships with lots of clubs and vary the level of support depending on the case.

I didn't get to see the Qcup game with redcliff and wynnum today. Can someone please fill me in how Kahu, kemp and Bond went?

My thoughts -

Joe Bond - was very dangerous. He is fast and has a good short kicking game. Kicked for one try and almost a second for Kemp. Also great support play.

Denan Kemp - looked very fast and wasn't out of place in the Centres. Came off with 15 to go with hamstring tightness, so not sure if he would be available for the broncs this week.

Jordan Kahu - didn't do much in attack, mainly because he didn't get quality ball. Knocked it on once. I thought his defence was good, came in and shut down a second man play on at least one occasion.

David Hala - didn't seem to play long minutes, knocked it on first hit-up. Defended pretty well, but didn't have as much impact as I hoped he would.

Nick Slyney - was my pick of the props, seemed to be on the whole game and did a tonne of work. Scored a very dubious try off a forward pass.

Delroy Berryman - didn't notice him too much, but no mistakes and seems quite quick.

Luke Capewell - never been a fan of his, but he played really well. Set up a few tries and was constantly threatening.

Also, good to see Hodges, Reed & McCullough (i think) there supporting the team.

Can't believe there isn't more hype in the monumental shift of Wallace to hooker, Hodges to fullback, Norman to 5/8.

We are a better team with Wallace playing Hunt's role.

Hodges doing his hammy sucks. How is he so prone to injury.

Would be happy if Wallace became the hooker off the bench and we stuck with our halves and fullback for the 80 minutes.

I can live with that because Wallace could even stay on the field with McCullough because he defends really well and loves a hit up. Need to find some decent replacements for the wing though. Hoffman looks more of a winger or centre.

I don't want Norman anywhere near the halves. He simply doesn't cut it all rather have Hala in the halves than Norma

Me not likey at all.

We've just seen how much better out attack looks with a fullback that has a clue, and you want to put Hoffman back there?
Besides, regardless of his own opinion about it, Norman isn't good enough for the five-eight position at the moment.

If you really want Wallace on the bench (which would be strange since he's been our best halve so far this season), then I would bring Hunt into the halves with Prince.

the way it is now is the best we've looked. especially when prince was taking first receiver in the second half.

Agreed.

Wallace at 5/8 and Prince at halfback looks much better.

Prince has a lot more flair about him than Wallace.

Norman at fullback looks pretty good too.
