POST GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Rabbitohs

Were we good or were Souths shit?

Or a bit of both?

Rhys Kennedy needs to **** off out of first grade. Surely we have a better option.

not with Lodge, Glenn, Ofahengaue and TPJ all out ... which is why we were permitted to play a development player last night

Yes, please only 3 or so weeks out for Croft. He just looked to classy and polished. With him in the side we are legit premiership chances. He is (literally) in another leauge to Dearden.
So he should be, dearden is still a baby.
Croft is a breathe of fresh air but I wouldn't write dearden off just yet , give him the experience that Croft has got and then you can judge.

Dearden played his 5 NRL games before injury last year into a team that was low on confidence, getting hammered by the media and was under real pressure.....the environment he is coming into now is 180 degree turnaround. With our pack dominating I think he will have a much easier time of it when he comes in....which is great news for mine...

1. Isaako - Another good game in attack but kicking radar was off. More importantly, he was caught out of position a number of times in defense, particularly at one almost crucial moment late in the game. 6
2. Oates - Was quiet but not really his fault when he is getting no ball whatsoever in attacking plays. Went looking for work and made some big runs with no noticeable errors. Will be out a week or three after a painful looking inure. 7
3. Staggs - Epic game, he can play anywhere and his ability to bounce off and through defenders and come out quicker and balanced the other side is phenomenal. He is Berrigan v2.0 as you can put him anywhere and he’ll smash it. 10
4. Boyd - He’s doing business job defensively and looks for work in crabbing it up field but why does he never pass it to Oates? 6
5. Arthars - Looked good in attack but was caught out rushing up or misreading in defense a number of times allowing the Rabbits space. Lucky he is quick enough to make up for some bad play reads. 6
6. Milford - I thought he did really well all things considered. Looked electric early and then tried to take over when Croft went off. He isn’t an organising half as the last few seasons have shown but did the role mostly well. 8
7. Croft - Hard to score. He looked good again but night ended prematurely with he shoulder injury and likely will be out a few weeks. 3
8. Flegler - This was a great game. He did everything well. But hard, ran hard and has amazing footwork. He actually reminds me of Steve Price. Excellent game. 9
9. Turpin - The team looks so much better with him at hooker. They look slick, they look organised and they look intimidating. That penalised tackle was pretty soft but he needs to build up to playing 80 ASAP as this team can’t afford the Macca minutes. 7
10. Haas - What else can be said? We are privileged to be watching the future greatest prop of all time in the early stages of his career. He is the complete player and then some but still so young. 9
11. Fifita - Fairly quiet in Attack but lethal in defense in this game. He was hammering everything that came his way and even in attack, he was really good, it’s just we’re so used to seeing highlight reel stuff from him every game. 7
12. Hopoate - He surprises us all I think. He made some poor decisions and one or two led to tries but I want to give a shout out to the quick pass for Stagg’s third. That showed real skill and awareness. Impressive for his second game in FG. 7
13. Carrigan - Born leader. What an outstanding game. This was Arrow-like at his best it was that good. He ran hard, cleaned up everything and smashed everything in his vicinity. First one on kick chases too. He has arrived. 9.5

14. Farnworth - How exciting is this kid! He is amazing under the high ball, is athletic and quick and smart. That flick for Staggs’ third was beautiful. He has a long career ahead of him. 7
15. Macca - Total mixed bag from him. Broke momentum for Souths late first half comeback and just looked in slow motion compared to the rest of the team. He has no place in this side at full strength. He got hooked but then came back and pulled out a couple of crucial last ditch tackles that were excellent. 5
16. Kennedy - Mixed bag from him as well. I actually feel sorry for him and not because he finished the game looking like a comic book super villain but because he is quite a serviceable bench prop. He is actually better than average but given how freakishly good Haas, Flegs and Carrigan were, he just looks sub-par. He isn’t though and aside from the dumb penalties, he ran well and hit hard, good bench game. 6
17. Bullemor - Did he okay? I think he got like one set and was off. Hard to judge. 3
That's about my read on it. Macca's first stint was ordinary and he looked a bit lost in the role but when given the spot of hooker at the end performed fine.
I think his overall game has dropped badly this season and he seems to just go through the motions.
Id get him kick more from dummy half. It fits in nicely with his role finishing games and is often what we need at that time of the game. He was great at getting 40/20's
He looks like a boxer that's done to many weights and not enough cross training.
Hopefully dearden can surprise us with his development from last year, but Turpin and Milford really need to step up in crofts absence.
I think Isaako has to take on some kicking too. Those bombs will become very predictable.

Massive ups to Seibs with his own development and player development over the last 12m.
Yes, I don't want to get too in front of ourselves as we are still only 2 games into this season.
But if we are being honest and WB was still in charge I have no doubt Niko would still be in the halves, Macca our 80min hooker. Darius still stinking it up at FB.
Blokes like Carrigan, Turps and Fleggs would have minimum-no games in first grade.
Seibold has matured a lot (from the looks of it) over the off season. He looks ALOT less bothered by the media and is holding himself a lot better then last year imo.
We are in a good place, lets just hope we don't fall over.

Souths and the Cowboys were as good as we allowed them to be ... our pack dominated theirs allowing our backs finish things off ..

... and our defence suffocated their attack in the middle and on the edges. Night and day compared to last year, for me the biggest reason we won. All that remains now defence wise is to make sure wingers DON'T leave their position.

....forwards win you games, you're backs by how much.....or something like that....

Oates Injury was timely. He needed to go. Couple weeks out and return via the bench. Ideally I think

1. Isaako
2. Farnsworth
3. Staggs
4. Arthurs
5. Boyd

Boyd just doesn't have the movement to be a centre and doesn't pass or tackle break or anything. Put him in the wing or out if the team.
Oates from the bench makes the most sense as he can cover the back row too.

Herbie deserves to start. He's saved us the last two weeks and has earned a spot on the wing

agreed...its time to give him. legit chance at staking the wing spot. Playing outside Boyd means he wont score anything, but he adds good wing defence, good under the high ball, strong with his hit ups...there are other things he brings to our game apart from scoring...the fact he stays on his wing in defence is the biggest plus...

I think also Staggs is easily leading tryscorer for us....we simply dont score on the left so it has to come from the right...
