Round 2 - Broncos Vs Storm Pre-Game Discussion & Team List

As much as I hate to admit it I think the Storm will roll us this weekend. The Storm is our boggy side (they have beaten us 8 from 9 since 2005), and even with their changes in their playing roster, ours is greater. Inglis will play and with any luck so will Hodges (so hopefully Michaels gets dropped) and Kenny. This having been said I think this is one of our better chances to bet them. I guess this time tomorrow night we we all know.

Why do people want Michaels dropped? I'd easilly have him ahead of both Yow Yeh and Winterstein at this stage, and it'll allow both Hodges and Folau to play on the right.

I am a Michaels fan but wouldn't have him ahead of Winterstein or Yow Yeh. Those two wingers are exactly what we need - QUICK!!! Neither lack confidence either.

Unfortunately with Hodges back it looks like Michaels will have to be pushed out.

No way! Keep Yow Yeh, drop Winterstien. Not that he has done anything wrong, but Michaels has earned his spot and can slip easily from wing to center if melb target Issy and he needs to be shifted to the flank.
After watching Israel get totally and utterly shut down at centre in the trial I think this would be a good option. Plus Michaels has more big game experience, and this is a big game.
Still how good is it to have this embarrassment of riches, and still have Devere to fall back on!

You can only go off their form in round one. Yow Yeh and Winterstein deserve to stay in the team on that basis.

Michaels might not be as good in attack as Winterstein or Yow Yeh, but unlike them he has actually proven himself in defence, and is possibly our best defender in the backline. I mean lets face it, Hodges and Folau are average at best in defence, with Hodges missing a lot of tackles all the time and Folau's very questionable decision making. We need a quality defender like Michaels in the side....and it's not like he's bad in attack anyway, I am pretty sure he's made at least 1 linebreak per game in like the last 5 games he's played for us in 2008.

For mine Hodges should not play as surely he's not fit. Also Kenny should have a week off as they both need t look at the big picture and think ahead to being around September / October.

As for if one back does miss out it should be Antonio. For mine Yowie has that special quality we have been lacking on the wing for the Broncos for a long time..............a footy brain. Think he will be a real gun !!!

He has earned his spot with years of consistent good footy (when he can stay on the field).
Agreed RE: Yow Yeh Russo, and what's more he does have some attacking flair.
Like I said, Wintserstien hasn't done anything wrong, I'm just looking at the best team to beat Melbourne. It's almost game day and I still don't know who to tip in the tipping comps. Do I risk all and tip the broncos or enjoy the sweet, sweet win-win scenario of tipping the storm... Decisions, decisions.

Hodges & Folau are both right side specialists, neither of them will play on the left side anytime soon.

Unfortunately for Yow Yeh is he is a specialist right side player also, and Winterstein is a specialist left side centre/winger.

Yow Yeh will be the one dropped if hodges comes back in, as some of you are mentioning I would also rather have Yow Yeh over Winterstein, but he isn't a left side player...so it is the best thing to do for the team at this point in time.

If hodges doesnt play:
02. Winterstein
03. Michaels

05. Yow Yeh

It is a very nice situation to be in, as all that young backline talent is very exciting.
Don't forget we still have Devere, Beale, Hoffman & Hewitt in the background as well!

And don't forget alex glenn who can also play in the centres if need be.

Honestly if we lose tonight, who gives a shit. But let's protect our season by not rushing Hodges back, or risking Kenny who is IMO our number 1 prop.

Let's give Wolfenstein and Yowie a few weeks together in the top grade early in the season. It can't hurt.

The only possible reason to rush Hodges back is so he can stake his claim for rep duty. We saw the result of selfishness like that from Locky last year. The Broncos should have learnt from that.

I'd rather have Sims in for Kenny, due to his experience....considering how inexperienced most of the side is. Plus him wanting to get back at Melbourne.

IMO Tonights game is huge for Sims if he chokes under pressure he won't play much first grade if he delivers a good game and dishes out some pain then I think he may get a spot on the bench.... ANy news on whether Hodges is still a chance.
