Round 2 - Broncos Vs Storm Pre-Game Discussion & Team List

Broncos press statement says they are waiting until an hour before kickoff to make a decision on Hodges.

Ridiculous. With such serious shoulder surgery you'd say wait until you feel ready and then wait another 2 weeks.

Hodges will be very rusty. Rather have Michaels/Winterstein out there.

I'd say the decision will have been made days ago, but they may as well let Melbourne sweat on it a little.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Sims plays.

If he can reach his full potential for us, he could be a very damaging player.

Interesting news about Hodges. How do we know he's not ready? I think he is.

You think he's ready based on?????

I'm saying he's not ready based on the fact:
- he had a shoulder reconstruction
- early estimates were a return by round 6
- more recent estimates said round 4 at the earliest
- he was unable to train fully until late January

It might be mind games, and he might be right, but all evidence suggests it's a gamble.

I don't even know what Sims' full potential is anymore.

Remembering his first five rounds for us last season, he was dynamite to the point where people were talking him up for Origin. Perhaps those performances were just an anomaly? It'd be fantastic if he could get back to that sort of form but I just don't have any faith in him really.

And I don't think it would be smart for Hodges to play, I don't think he will either.

Maybe he is a quick healer like JT?

I was just playing devil's advocate.

I have no idea if he's ready. Just stating, you can't write him off unless you definitely know all the facts! [icon_wink

but unlike them he has actually proven himself in defence, and is possibly our best defender in the backline.
Ok you watched the game on Friday night did you? Maybe you should check your facts first.
Hunt 1 tackle - 0 misses - 3 try assists
Winterstein 4 tackles - 1 missed - 1 try
Michaels 11 tackles - 3 misses
Falou 22 tackles - 1 missed - 1 line break - 1 try
Yow Yeh 3 tackles - 0 misses - 1 line break - 1 try

I can see the weak link, can you?

The only thing Michaels did was stuff up a try and instead of passing decided to go himself and was easily bundled into touch.

Hodges out
Inglis in
Sims in
Steve Turner or Yow Yeh FTS
Broncos by 2

Under 39.5 total points
Score Brisbane 18-16
MOTM Lockyer

All of the above = me + roughly 20 celebratory rums

My only "want" for this year was to beat Melbourne once

add in Slater to get knocked out and your on a winner..

He just came back from injury - he's still rusty. At his best, his decision making in defence is second to none in the Broncos backline. He's got a solid tackling technique too. Give him time IMO.

Michaels is a deadset blood nut one of the best I have seen... Give him time he will be a great servant for the Broncos if Bruno doesn't root it up like usual.

I would love to see 10 seconds to go 2 points down, Simms smash Lima, Lockyer pick up the loose ball, spread it wide and Falou fend off Inglis and score in the corner. That would be a pretty good night. Either that or win by 20+, both good :)

I'm not sure my nerves could handle that! [icon_lol1.
