POST GAME Round 2 - Titans vs Broncos

It feels even more futile than normal to bitch after this loss. It's just a roster issue. We can toss out one underperformer but all we'll be doing is throwing another kid that isn't ready for first grade to the wolves.

You can't help but feel we're in for a Newcastle style rebuild where we find ourselves stringing together spoons before things get better. Hope I'm wrong.

Too many handling errors, too many poor attempts in defence. I actually wouldnt give a single player a pass apart from Bullemor. We had players who did well in spells, but not for the entire game. Pangai for example did nothing until that spell towards the end, then he was outstanding.

154 metres, 24 tackles.

That's usually a pass for your boy.

All well and good to say this, but who do you bring into the spine that is better? I’ll wait.
I'm struggling to name a worse spine from the other 15 teams.

The problem is staring us right in the face. Either make changes or keep losing.

Walters' decision to keep gifting them games.
By the way, I agree with your point. The problem is 100% spine.

Yeah it’ll take a long time but you have to get rid of the people responsible for creating this mess before anything starts to improve.

A very worrying sign was Riki crying after the game and the opposition consoling him. Continued losing is taking a mental toll on these kids and they are going to leave to get out of this toxic environment.
That is a concern of mine. The psychological impact of continual loses under effort. Thanks Seibold. That guy is a narcissist. Can't believe the hide to turn up as an expert on NRL tv.

Well, as i've said on numerous occasions, i tend not to judge a player by the numbers so i generally dont give players a pass based on running meters, but i thought TPJ was pretty much anonymous in the first half. He was a different player when he came back. Ran with aggression and intent and made things happen. Thats why i wouldn't give him a pass. He didnt do it all game. If he did it for the entire time he was on the field, he would have been getting JT13 numbers.

Thats the problem. We take out one young player who isnt ready and replace him with another young player who isnt ready. Somebody said it on the match thread, but Copley is about the only experienced player we can call on now.

While it may make us feel better, I honestly don’t think Milford would react well to being dropped, he’s a confidence player and I think it would destroy him. Maybe sit him on the bench, simplify his role, just have him coming on for 20mins to spark something and hope he builds some confidence again.
Couldn’t care less how he reacts tbh.
Hopefully he reacts badly and wants out ASAP. I’d be all for it.

Who cares? Drop him. Never pick him again and don’t re-sign. No longer our problem.

Some consolations for me:

1. We won the second half. That's not nothing.
2. The emergence of Tesi Niu as a strike centre. I get the feeling he's just getting started.
3. Herbie's footwork. Wasn't a great game but like Niu, he looks like he's winding up.
4. TPJ. Hitting Fifita without getting pinged. His passing and offloads. Not giving up. A couple of times there he looked more of a halfback than Croft.
5. Jordan Riki. Another who looks like he's just getting started. Like the other two, still rough around the edges.
6. Coates. Just makes me smile.
7. Kennedy. Keep him on the bench.

Mixed feelings:

1. Isaako. Looks fit as ****. But dickfingers.
2. Milford. His kicking game has improved. But not enough.
3. Turpin. I didn't like his double pump hesitant service. Cut that out.
4. Carrigan. Liability with the ball.

I gave Turpin a rap last week, he was really good. However, tonight he was MIA. No direction, didn’t run. If that was Macca out there he would have been roasted by HQ, but instead Turpin is lauded. Give me a break.
I’m not lauding his game tonight though? I’m commenting on the spine in general. Turpin is the shining light and he’s solid without being anywhere close to a superstar, and the others 3 spine players are horrendous. That’s the spine of the mighty Brisbane Broncos.
