Round 20 - Cowboys vs. Broncos - Pre Match Discussion

Hearing all over the wire that Norman to QLD Cup is almost a certainty. Looks like someone at the club has gotten in Hooks ear. Now make sure he stays there until he can piss off to Parramatta to join the other numpties.

I'm a little worried that Wallace will just play in the halves when he comes on. Hunt starting half back, shifts to hooker as Wallace replaces Macca. Macca comes back on and Hunt is benched for the remainder.

This is the team I am hoping to see.

1. Hoffman - Ok he doesn't have the greatest pass but we have seriously lacked he's kick returns and tackle breaks from back there. I would have liked kahu here maybe but I'm not sure about the status of he's injury.
2. Kahu/Someone fast - If kahu is unavailable just get a fast guy from u20's or Qcup
3. Oates - Has been impressive so far
4. Hodgo
5. Maranta/Kemp/Someone fast - I'm hoping it's not maranta but we are getting pretty low on options.
6. Prince
7. Hunt - As I see it he is our best option moving forward, the season is basically done so we need to give him an extended run like Norman got. Hopefully this will get him ready to wear the 6 next to DCE next year (I can dream)
8. McGuire
9. Macca
10. Hannant
11. Glenn
12. Thaiday - He needs to be in the backrow
13. Parker

14. Wallace - Maybe Fourex will be finally proven right, maybe he has been a gun hooker masquerading as a half back all this time (no one tell fourex I said this)
15. Gillett - I love Gillett but I really think he does his best work coming off the bench. He is one of our best attacking weapons so we should keep him fresh for that.
16. Dodds/Hala
17. Tasi/Hala - Depending on Tasi's injury

Norman - Parra/Q cup/sitting in the stands with arms crossed and pout face - I don't really care which one

Meh. All I care about is Norman dropped, Hunt gets to play <some> halves football. Happy days.

I think everyone needs to give up on playing the finals this year, it'd be f'ing amazing if we did win every game but it's very unlikely (based on current form). Let's use this season's remaining games to give Hunt a bit of a go as I'm pretty sure one of the halves spots will be his next year, Wallace isn't going to give us anything else at this point so let's take a gamble.

I agree though mate, all these changes are a few rounds too late.

as much as i think the season is done i'd be even more disappointed if the team "gave up" on playing finals. that doesnt breed a winning culture. i dont care how unrealistic it is, our run home is quite easy and i'd rather a team going out there believing they can do it rather than throwing the towel in already.

i do think the changes (hunt to half at least) is 6 weeks too late but thank **** its at least happening

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. come on please be true. we all surely know we dont need to bother with him in our side anymore. i mean the dragons shipped off soward two months ago ffs

I dunno about easy. The only struggling team we are playing is the Eels. I guess Dragons too, but they do win occasionally. Other than that, it's the Cowboys, Knights x 2, Bulldogs and the much improved Panthers. Realistically, we are not going to be there come finals time.

imo in this comp there is the top 4 and then there is the rest. we dont play anyone in the top 4. to me they are all winnable games, form dependant. as i said i dont think we'll do it but i for damn sure dont want the players going out there this week with that attitude, is all im saying.

At least the good thing about missing finals is everyone comes around to the fact we aren't good enough and need a cleanout of sorts.

It's cathartic if nothing else.

Also, as Renegade just mentioned, missing the finals might be the wake up call that the club needs. Do we all remember what happened in the first round of finals last year?
