Round 21 - Sea Eagles vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

seriously, jamie soward is so much better than ben hunt right now as painful as it is to say. his passes actually find the mark and he kicks goals too. soward has probably been better coached though, but geez hunt needs some work. alfie is good at teaching him the instinctive stuff but hunt needs someone who understands organisation and structure. throw the cheque book at joey johns

Did nobody notice how well Barbe played at 5/8? I'm gonna take that as a credit to him since nobody is whinging about him.

Very happy with Ben. Reed went well, too. Hoffman strong but still needs to bloody look to pass...

I didn't think barba played well at all, cherry evans ran straight through him and should have scored, he then got caught out and left copley and his outside man out in the cold which let jamie lyon score ad he also used his arms as a turn style to let tom symonds through a yawning gap as well. He did pop one good ball on the eagles line but that work was undone by his pass a bit later which landed in the laps of the manly fans on the hill.

Dog's breakfast of a a game plan. Hook is really unable to cut it at this level.

Gillett, Barba, McGuire and Vidot were good. The agendas of some of the posters on here are getting tiresome.

Hunt needs to be swabbed

Macca's service is way way too slow, and it is starting to show. He gives the defence too much time to move up.

been like that for years. he has a few good games every now and then that mask it, but his general service has always been rather slow.

i hope bennett can do something with macca's snail pace because we're stuck with him for a long time...

We may have been within touching distance on the scoreboard for most of the match, but not once did I get the impression we would win.

Our attack tonight was disgusting. Just a complete rabble. We are a ridiculously boring team to watch... I always find myself being drawn to other things with the telly on in the background because we're just that shit. Lacklustre.

Lol, come on.

All round a very uninspiring performance in which we were nearly totally shut out by Manly defence. Oiur back line was just disjointed and we never looked like scoring a try other then getting lucky with a bomb. Hard to find anything positive to say but I will try : Barba showed a bit more spark, Copley great in patches , ruck defence improved on last week , Hoffman solid at fullback. I am afraid I am fairly resigned to mainly losses from here on out. Just one final whinge....I wish our forwards would really try a bit harder to put some hurt in at least some of their tackles.

I didn't watch most of the second half. It was just rubbish. Senior players making school boy errors. Hunt has played poo ever since Hook was sacked. Too much talk during the week from this team and the continue to deliver **** all. Too lazy, too unorganized. Dumb footy seems to be the plan.

What makes your agendas any better rna?

I don't have agendas Pete.

Gillett for example played well. He tackled well, made some crucial tackles and ran strongly. That is not an agenda. Last week, he was crap. I said as much. Last night he wasn't crap. He was good, and like Glenn and Copley, who also tried hard, they had no quality ball.

Barba in his 3rd game as 5/8 did ok for mine. Even Reed played well, except for that ill judged kick ahead when he made that very good line break.

Saying Hook can't cut it at this level is not an agenda. It is obvious by the way he cannot coach shape or structure. The one set play of any worth - where Hoffman broke the line (then failed to pass the ball and blew a try) was another example of what should be happening all over the park: worked plays using good ball runners.

We have such quality in the back row. None of our play makers created any opportunities for them. Pretty much all the forward running was straight up the guts and die with the ball.

As other posted: the team was disorganized, almost a headless chicken.

rna, you're one of the better contributors on here and you're one of the few who makes my little role on here actually enjoyable but you're also one of the most agenda driven and opinionated posters I know.

It's great! We all have opinions and while some need to learn time and place, it's good to have different views because usually the truth is right in the middle.

Thanks for the compliment BP. Yes, I am extremeley opinionated. My only agenda is that the team is not coached properly, and quality players are not crucified for doing their best in a side that is so poorly prepared.

As for the truth, yes, it is in the middle, but also on the edges and out wide.

Which is why I don't think they should be so readily dismissed as agendas.

Personally, I thought Gillett was OK. Defence was still weak at times and didn't make much inroads in offence but I don't think he was given a lot of opportunity either.

Barba seems to have the habit of playing well one half and then going quiet the next. Had a few nice touches in the first half but wasn't impressed with his second. Defence was a concern.

I cannot see how any individual player in a team sport can be at their best well when the team is a rabble. It destroys confidence, saps commitment and ultimately, the opposition, when coached and properly prepared puts so much pressure on us that mistakes become inevitable
