Round 21 - Sea Eagles vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

Only a few players chipped in tonight. There was no intensity, game plan or control.

Why the **** did Hunt continue with those shit grubber kicks. The one high ball he did led to a try.

Enjoy Centrelink Griffin. Can't wait to see the back of him

I will however criticise 3 players for individual performances separate to poor coaching: Macca's service from dummy half is no longer justified by his good defence, and Hoffman's reluctance to pass the ball. They are game killers.

I have no idea what has happened to Parker, except maybe that he ought to be playing a different game in his proper position: lock, and yes, BP, I confess to that observation being an agenda

Agreed rna.

You look at the top teams and while they have the odd marquee talent, they're there because they're a champion side, not a team filled with champions.

I find it funny when people describe the Broncos as a one off the ruck team. If anything, there are times where I wish the Broncos were more boring and predictable because some of the plays they come up with are so mind boggling that they defy belief.

The problem with the Broncos is that there is no rhyme or reason behind their play, nor patience. It's like they rattle through their entire gameplan and rarely revert back to what was working and instead try and come up with miracle plays which constantly put the side under pressure.

I bet you could write an entire thesis on where the Broncos have to improve and the work Bennett has to do in order to get the best out of this current crop of players.

Personally, I'll be most interested to see how Bennett develops the next crop of youngsters coming through.

I can understand why Granville was 'hooked' last night. His passing from dummy half was terrible with players having to take the passes above their head and stopping any momentum we had in attack.

Yeah, but you're on the record as a massive Macca fan, hardly an unbiased assessment.

Granville got no where near enough time. At the very least he should have come on towards the end of the first half.

It wasn't like Maccas' service was crisp or anything, either. A lot of his passes were behind Hunt, or above his head. Add his slowness out of dummy half to that, too. I don't think he's quite right still. He was going great until his groin injury. He's been very slow and sluggish since coming back. I'd say it's got a lot to do with fitness. He was the fittest in the club pre-season, scoring something like 15 on the beep test. Not being able to run for 3 weeks while his groin healed will certainly effect fitness.

McCullough hasn't had a good game since before origin if we're being honest, actually.. since Cameron Smith re-signed with Melbourne.

Hannant had a great game.

Hunt is shite and always will be, he will never get any better than his small form peak earlier this year.

Parker is allowed one bad game, he has saved Brisbane that many times its not funny, great player.

Small form peak? Bar the last two weeks he has been the form player of the comp and was equal lead for the dally m.... **** I wish all of our players had a 'small form peak' we would be unbackable favourites every week

For mine, a lot of players are too focused on pulling the knives out of Hook's back and concerned about their future with the new messiah coming and the rumours of his celestial entourage ready to descend upon them, instead of focusing on getting their game together and keeping their heads clear of distractions.

For mine, the last 2 games have been our worst of the season, or close to it

Caught the last 20 minutes or so of the replay on Fox.

Broncos missed Hodges in the second half. The players were looking for guidance, somebody to provide them with some structure and nobody was there to answer the call. Hoffman in particular was actually pretty disappointing in offence. Brisbane went to him a few times when they had a bit of momentum and each time he'd get picked off and come up with slow play the ball that basically killed the set.

Was also an instance late in the game where the Broncos had half an opportunity with Parker looking to put Hoffman through the gap but he ran a dreadful line, weaving back in, throwing an offload to Gillett who handed it straight to a Manly player. Story of the night right there.

Hunt was even worse than I remembered. A lot of dreadful passes, poor options, had bad kicks and poor defence on show and that was just inside that space of time. Sucks because he's easily been the Broncos best highlight this season. With both him and Barba on the fringes, it's really easy to get a quick play the ball and a free run from dummy half.

I have a feeling Hunt's form doesn't have much to do with what is going on behind the scenes at the Broncos.

Teams go up another gear at this time of year. I think he is struggling with it. He wasn't at his sparkling best even before the Bennett crap.

I don't feel he was at his best against the Warriors, and against Panthers. I didn't watch the whole Sharks game, so I can't comment on that one.

he was brilliant against the Sharks... just had no ball in the last 15 minutes to do anything, and couldn't do it on his own

I don't have an agenda.

I merely ask anyone who said "Sack Griffin" at least on one occasion, "Who did you think was going to be coach next year?"

Hunt was good against the Warriors and Panthers. His last two games he has been clearly not all there IMO.
In games against the storm and manly with no support from his team. Some supporters are so fickle. Not saying you are btw

Poor attack and no direction coupled with strong defence by Manly is what lost us the game. We had little direction in attack and the last tackle options were very poor to say the least and when Hodges went off injured that fucked us even more. At least we showed we can compete with the very best teams, I thought we competed well but let ourselves down and were our own worst enemies.

Hodges out and tough run home and I think some guys are down on confidence, finals hopes are slipping away.

Well that was just a plain out and out shit game, from both sides.

unfortunately the two best players were on the other team in foran and Lyon. Lyon is without doubt the best centre in the comp if not league world, just all round brilliance.

Thought Glenn stood up and played a great game, McGuire strong as usual and that's about it.

these last few weeks will be tough to watch!!
