I don't think Hook has any man love for Maranta. As much as I have doubts about some aspects of his coaching, Hook has been practically forced to put Maranta on the wing...

I honestly can't think of what else it would be. Unless he was struck by lightning? Abducted by aliens?

Seriously though...we've basically done the same thing all season, with the same players - aside from the abortion that was the Warriors game. I guess it could be that he gave it until our last chance; or maybe he feels we won't make the 8 so he's given his troops free reign. But IMO the most likely option is a tap on the shoulder.

Hook made it pretty clear that Maranta's days were numbered in the backs when he preferred Jordan Kahu over him in Round 9.

Style of play probably would have occurred a lot earlier if Hook's hands weren't tied during the Origin period.

Unless it's all smoke & mirrors to allow Drew to fly under the radar for his debut. Who knows with Journos. Could be any of these:

A) Truth: Kahu is to return. Journo: Hears that Maranta will not play and assumes a 20s player will play instead. Speculates Drew.
B) Truth: Drew to make debut. Journo: Calls it correctly but Broncos deflect the rumour so the kid isn't under pressure.
