Didn't Thaiday play 5/8th or start at there in a game? (I think that was the season in the late 2000's we were decimated by injuries). Worse situations can happen lol

In the finals against Melbourne in 2007.

So the late mail suggests Roberts will be staying on the bench instead of being promoted to the starting side.

I think that helps us, to be honest. Elgey's form has been patchy at best and he really has been struggling since he returned from that shoulder injury. Taylor and Roberts were starting to form a nice combination which could have caused headaches.

LOL thought you meant James Roberts for a second there and I was worried our star player wouldn't be making his appearance on skating with the stars.

lol didn't get a point, I wonder why. Would have been better off putting hodges at 5/8

Sometimes I wonder how he managed to get a contract..

He must have had some dirt on some of the admins at the Broncos.

Was he really that bad?

Granted, I haven't watched those games since they aired, but he seemed very serviceable.

I can't remember Te Reo or Lacey playing as well as him when they were given an opportunity.

But hey, I thought Berro was fantastic at dummy half, when some of those old 07 tapes revealed he was a one trick pony. A hell of a trick, won us a grand final, but there was a reason why Bennett resisted the urge for as long as he did.

Could be wrong but wasn't he on some sort of second tier contract along with being contracted to Redcliffe?

Anyway, it didn't matter what happened that game, we weren't going to win - Melb were after blood from the 2006 and with no Locky, well, we were fucked, it was just a matter of by how much.

Gee you're harsh. He never had a contract.

Mick is a teacher, Broncos wanted him to train full time but not pay him and wait for his go. He couldn't do that so juggled teaching and Redcliffe.

Best ISC hooker ever. 253 games. Filled in when the Broncos needed him.

He should have played more NRL. Never got a proper go.

Don't care what he did in the ISC.

He never replicated that in the NRL. Defensively, he was a bloody nightmare.

Hard to believe a teacher picked for NRL games wasn't Cam Smith.

Haha, you do this all the time when someone criticizes an ISC player.. Why can't you handle people criticizing ISC players?

You can bag anyone you want but knowing the full story would help your case.

Calling a guy in his late 20's up for a few games who isn't even full time and expecting a long term career that flourishes is just a ridiculous outcome to expect.

You made a silly comment.

Oates in the centers would be a Gene Miles type player ... IMO would be a revelation there with some time in the position.

Now is not even remotely the right time for moving him from the back line.

we are currently very strong in the back row with Gillett, TPJ, Su'A, Glenn, this new ESL signing (maybe Bird next year depending where Bennett plans to play him) etc.

no where near as good depth in the back line. move Oates and your next best option would be Pearson (who you have been calling to be dropped for weeks)
I've called for Oates to be given a Gene Miles/Meninga style role for at least three years now so it's great reading others are like minded. I can't dismiss the arguments against that either but were I King for Day I'd decree he gets a shot !
