POST GAME [Round 23, 2022] Broncos vs Storm

Not at all, which is why I find it funny. It's sky is falling stuff when we lose to a better team. I honestly don't see us doing well til 2024, but the meltdowns are becoming a meme.
The issue is we’ve been getting belted by the same ways since 2018. We’ve tried 3 different coaches for the same outcome. It’s not just the storm hoodoo but a tigers one as well now.

What's going to be the magic 2024 thing that will make us competitive again?
Reynolds retiring. Swansong script. Redcliffe have already arrived. Brisbane just miss finals this year, Redcliffe look like a good alternative. Brisbane make finals next season and you have blockbuster local derbies. 2024 sees the peak of the young team coming together, just in time for Reynolds to be the next saviour of Brisbane. Statue to be installed in 2025.

24 tackles though.

Probably an indication of not only have 35% possession and only 37% territory.

I'm sure we'd rather haas try to get us out of our own end than James
22.

6 missed…

One thing I always see when Storm play us they all seem to be perpetually moving forward. Bumping off tackles, offloading at will and making metres every run

They get the rub every time and arsey shit comes off for them and from there they are just relentless.

I honestly don’t know how we can stop them. The last game we won I remember we threw a lot of offloads and everything managed to stick.

With the way the game it is, the refereeing/six agains and the piss weak attitude the game have when it comes to reigning in the Storm’s bullshit, I don’t see us beating them anytime soon.

I know Olam is a brick shithouse, but if we can go ONE FUCKING WEEK without a hospital short ball to a forward that will drop it I will be slightly more happy. We’ve been doing it for a fucking decade and it still never works

ps please Lord Gamble bless us with your presence again this season

Press conference did nothing to assuage my concerns. Both Walters and Reynolds sat there like deers in the headlights. "Just gotta see how we respond next week". Like really? You know so little about where the heads of your team are that all you can do is just sit and hope they decide to turn up?

**** me.
“Short turnaround”

you know what that means!

no changes…

It’s almost as if there is an attitude problem at the club…

Our season has been built on a lucky draw. Tits, knights, dogs twice and Rabbits twice without Fatrell.
Kev can't coach and he is proving it with team selections and lack of any improvement against good teams .
Our D has stopped being aggressive, how does that happen? It's a different style since the Parra game.
The props playing as first receiver, please, does not fucking work, tried , failed, but we persist.
Our attack does exactly what defences expect.
Our last month has been putrid with nearly every player regressing.
I wouldn't call it lucky, they've been better than half the competition and find themselves exactly where they deserve to be. There's a clear gap between them and the top teams and that's something that they'll have to address if they want to be premiership contenders.

It wasn't like the Broncos didn't have their own share of adversities either.

Until Melbourne have a stable fan base in Melbourne and are a lock for cash, they will make the top 8.

We need to get either Annersley or one of the refs to training in the off season and show up what we are doing wrong that we regularly lose the penalty count and especially 6 agains. The Storm easily slow the tackle down more than any other club in the comp and often leave early in defence yet somehow win the 6 again count nearly every week.

I couldn't give less of a shit about bandwagoners, personally.

Shit went against us early on and we refused to try and build any pressure... NAS had his way out on the wing (he's 120kg and runs through props so why wouldn't he) and BSmith put in a vintage performance that he's barely been able to do this year.

Maybe if Cobbo gets that kick clean he runs away for a try 30secs into the game... maybe if Staggs passes the ball to Cobbo we get another try early on. Instead it ended up being that Riki drops that short ball from Reynolds and we basically don't see the ball again until the second half.

Bellamy went risky by playing BSmith for 50mins from the start (he hasn't been doing that this year), NAS for 60mins on an edge (don't think I've ever seen NAS on an edge) and Tui starting. His bench was light, but he went all in with his starting pack.

We turned up early on (somewhat), but we can't play a storm style in defence against the storm. They're the experts and we come in with zero line speed and hit with zero impact. We don't put any pressure on the opposition's attack if there's no defensive pressure.

They don't care about your tackling or your pressure, because there is none... they can roll out their game plan like a training run. Knights completed at 86% last week... they barely made an error and spent the game basically inside our 20m, because we couldn't force any errors through our defence.

It's the biggest improvement in the cowboys game... their defence is fast line speed and high impact. They end up scoring tries because they force the opposition into errors. They're happy to kick long early, because it means they get to bash them for another set.

Our line speed and first contact is non-existent and we concede 80m sets... even on early kicks.

I'll just leave this here for now.

We only has 35% possession

We lost the 6-agains 4 - 2 (although both of ours were from the exact same play, the Storm gave away a 6 again on their own line and then kept holding on giving away a second 6 again in the same play)

We lost the penalty count 6 - 3

And Harry Grant might be the biggest diver in rugby league (pretty hard to do with Feldt still playing) ... he didn't sell his first one by grabbing his face for a shoulder contact ... but like all good divers altered his technique and sold his second.
Stats say we won the penalty count 6-3. We also win the error count 15-8. Had 66 missed tackles. We also only made half the amount of run meters...
