POST GAME [Round 23, 2022] Broncos vs Storm

Press conference did nothing to assuage my concerns. Both Walters and Reynolds sat there like deers in the headlights. "Just gotta see how we respond next week". Like really? You know so little about where the heads of your team are that all you can do is just sit and hope they decide to turn up?

**** me.

You'll never get the reaction in a PC that you want after a performance like that.

No coach will ever give you the response you want to hear.

This year is gone and my mind has turned to next season. At least Ryan James is retiring and Kennedy is off to the UK so there's two spuds that Walters can't pick.

We seriously need a quality hooker but don't think there are any on the market.

Who ever our defence coach is he needs to be shown the door. Our line speed is non existent and our tackling technique of grabbing instead of hitting with the shoulder is just embarrassing. The only decent tackler is Hetherington and Haas at the moment just doesn't look interested.

The real worry is that Haas and Staggs will take up a huge part of our salary cap next year and both are woefully out of form.

24 tackles though.

Probably an indication of not only have 35% possession and only 37% territory.

I'm sure we'd rather haas try to get us out of our own end than James
22 tackles, 6 missed. Whichever way you want to spin it, it’s not first grade material.

Yes but James is a prop in this team, so he needs to provide go-forward. I like the bloke but he was really out of place out there tonight. Like Glenn for his last 2 years.

Haas needs to find his angry button or he can chase the money elsewhere. Reyno needs to be better. We need line speed and urgency in the play-the-ball...we were good at this though the middle of the year but it's fallen off a cliff. We peaked too early and are on a sad downward spiral unfortunately.

I'll just leave this here for now.

We only has 35% possession

We lost the 6-agains 4 - 2 (although both of ours were from the exact same play, the Storm gave away a 6 again on their own line and then kept holding on giving away a second 6 again in the same play)

We lost the penalty count 6 - 3

And Harry Grant might be the biggest diver in rugby league (pretty hard to do with Feldt still playing) ... he didn't sell his first one by grabbing his face for a shoulder contact ... but like all good divers altered his technique and sold his second.
Missed tackles: 66

Happy members round everyone.

I myself was sat near a bunch of Storm 'fans' who I'm sure have never even been to Melbourne so I had a lovely night. Really felt the love as a member.

In fact, there was more effort shown by the plodders in the stands pushing and shoving trying to get down onto the field at FT than our players bothered to show.

Our season has been built on a lucky draw. Tits, knights, dogs twice and Rabbits twice without Fatrell.
Kev can't coach and he is proving it with team selections and lack of any improvement against good teams .
Our D has stopped being aggressive, how does that happen? It's a different style since the Parra game.
The props playing as first receiver, please, does not fucking work, tried , failed, but we persist.
Our attack does exactly what defences expect.
Our last month has been putrid with nearly every player regressing.

Putrid.

That will have go on Kevie's permanent record. Picking Ryan James was a huge **** up.

Not at all, which is why I find it funny. It's sky is falling stuff when we lose to a better team. I honestly don't see us doing well til 2024, but the meltdowns are becoming a meme.
What's going to be the magic 2024 thing that will make us competitive again?

Our forward pack just seems slow. We don’t have any explosive runners. Kobe came on and tried to do it. Had success immediately but other than that our forwards are easily contained. No sting in our defence either.

Yep, this is my concern as well after watching the press conference.

Not good signs at all.

There are a few players tonight that need a spell badly
Riki staggs Mamm
James Kennedy Turpin Hoeter aren’t even first grade material
