Round 23 - Broncos vs Rabbitohs Pre-Match Discussion

nah. rnd 21 against manly, hodges and copley centres, reed and vidot wings. hodges got injured during the game which meant reed switched into the centres and oates played on the wing for the remainder.

rnd 20 reed came off the bench against melbourne, as griffin stuck with the same backline that beat the warriors, the match that reed and co missed due to naughty corner.

But wan't the fact Reed was out of the centres to begin with a consequence of breaching the rules?

well no not really. the game he missed for 'suspension', copley had an absolute blinder, and earned starting centre spot from then on.

maybe we are confusing the point. all i was trying to point out, is that copley will be in the centres in the side named today.

Yeah Copley pretty much destroyed his Origin chances with a poor night under the high ball. He's improved a fair bit from previous years, but is still behind players like Maranta in terms of safety.

I think Hodges will play.

I don't have much faith in Copley being able to contain Walker. Hopefully, if Hodges doesn't play, he will play on the right again.

If he doesn't, I hope Reed plays on the left again. I don't have much faith in Copley being able to contain Walker.

On the flip side, will Walker be able to contain Copley?

I've not watched much of him play.

How much better does the bench look with 2 front rowers on it. Nothing against Lowrie but he just doesn't belong in this team if we are serious about getting into the semis and beyond.

glad to see kennedy in there again. hopefully he puts in another good performance.

i reckon copley can shut ol mate down.

the thing that always stresses me about our defense is the cover on the short inside passes on the edges. seems to always catch us out.

Strong starting side, weak-ish bench.

Broncos have been slow starters as of late, I'd dare say we'll know the result inside the opening twenty minutes.

They cannot afford to give Souths the same head-start as last time.

Good balanced side (again)

let's hope they turn up with the same mindset they had against the Bulldogs.

This game is one we should win.

I think Copley will be fine against Walker. A couple of games strung together in the same position (right centre) which I believe is his best. Remember, the mistakes he made in the Manly game were mostly while playing on the left. And he's not the first & won't be the last person surprised by how nippy Fatty Lyon can be.

Walker is on the right side attack but i think Copely is better in attack on the left

He is too. Both teams have named the centres the wrong (IMO) way around. Reed's balls-out defence is suited to handling Walker, just as long as Barba can hold his own. We don't want Glenn being drawn in on an attacking wide-running back-rower, leaving one of their halves to exploit the overlap.

Looking forward to watching some of these future maroons. Auva'a, Copley, Hunt...Keary (well, Keary would be if NRL officals got their heads out of their fat arses).

There are 3 things I hope for in this game.

1. Broncos to start off well. We got lucky last time when Rabbitohs went to sleep. I can't see it happening again.
2. Not a single kick goes straight to Inglis. I don't want a repeat of last time.

And most important of all.

3. For Broncos to fucking win. I am sick of seeing them lose to the top teams all the time.

I just thought of a 4th one.

4. For someone to line up Sam and drop him hard.

I'm glad people are positive, but let's be honest, that's wrong.

This is a game they should win, but we might if we are really up to it.

Incorrect Italic use IMO.

I agree with your point though. I'm personally just hoping we can keep it tight. Do that, and we could frustrate themand jag a win.
They'll be on a high after beating the comp leaders and possibly take us lightly.
