Round 23 Discussion

There was a tackle last night by two titans on Paps that got penalised for a high shot. The replays showed there was absolutely no contact made with the head at all. The commentators were perplexed and at a loss to explain. By the time the Tits saw the replay i was to late to challenge it. My question is how the hell was it called high in the first place and why did the bunker not correct it? The very next play Welch loses the ball so no rel harm done, but the initial decision was another small cut in my thousand cuts of a slow painful death while watching this abortion they call Rugby league.

Soooo Canberra weren't challenging the dangerous tackle??

Went past the horizontal... I thought the bunker was obligated to rule on it???

Soooo now this one is an obstruction... how is that different to titans last night?? Other than the raiders player throwing his hands in the air...

Actually the one last night was worse given Peachey ran back through the hole that was created against the obstructed defender.

NSWRL is an absolute fucking lottery

Clearly the bunker is so fucking stupid when it comes to the rules that they need the players to tell them when there is an issue... lay down on a high shot, lay down when there's a crusher, fall over or throw your hands in the air when there's an obstruction (or even if there isn't... who the **** knows... the bunker certainly don't).

Manly just struggling to get into the contest as Funa goes down with an injury.

Canberra had a big glut of possession off the back of Manly errors and penalties but could only strengthen their one possession lead.

Canberra have done a pretty good job of shutting down the Sea Eagles right hand attack which is their most likely attacking option.

Jesus Christ... drops it in the play the ball and apparently no advantage.

Looks like Analsley went read through the rule book before coming out last Monday to tell us all that the broncos were in the wrong, because the play the ball doesn't exist until it's cleared the ruck.

Canberra extend off a Garrick mistake.

Saab rushed in on Wighton but failed to shut him down opening up space for Simonsson.

Don't listen to anything that guy says, his being in a position of authority is enough to do your head in.

I tried to warn you about their ridiculous interpretation!

I know ... the interpretation that I'd never heard of until last week... looks like the refs have been given a refresher over the week.

To me that was advantage played though... does it work the same if a six again is given followed by a drop in the tackle?

i.e. six again for hand on the ball or holding down, player knocks it on after the defender moves to marker... you could argue the six again infringement has impeded the play and ultimately caused a knock on, but would the ref call it play on or change the six again to a penalty?

Same if there's a six again for offside... potentially the player playing the ball wouldn't have had it because the offside defenders have shepherded the ball in field, so is there an advantage in there if they suddenly drop it before clearing the ruck (I very much doubt it).

Have never watched one of his pressers... why would I bother listening to him struggle to tell us that his refs are doing just fine (unless one of the golden children are robbed by a decision) when they are sooooo clearly incompetent, or worse corrupt.

That's the way it's supposed to go but I've seen instances where a team has been penalised for off-side only to receive the ball because the player mucked up the play the ball.

I actually feel for Annesley because he's been involved in the game for decades and was a good operator. However he's taken this thankless role that's made harder due to changes that were pushed by the broadcasters.

Genuinely happy to see Olokau'atu convert the promise he showed in NYC and become one of the best strike forwards in the game.

I would genuinely be shocked if Manly didn't win a premiership in the next 3 seasons with the players in the team and coming through.

he seems like such a cockhead, always losing his shit at someone.

that was very forward from suli to dce

Jeez young Campbell is just besting him and the kids frikkin indestructible. I shudder every-time the kid gets tackled, but he is capable of taking it all even from the bruisers.

wish raiders got a field goal then, was so stupid from manly to hold onto tapine.
