The only penalty talk thats going to come off the back of that game is the late scrum penalty for not packing in time and it being done intentionally. Don't expect to see anything else said.
A few days later and you couldn’t be more right. It’s incredible how predictable they are. They only thing added is that they did briefly talk about the laying down for penalties like Redcliffe did several times on 360 but the video playing in the background was when Walsh got a crusher lol.

Their golden boy Katoa dived before they decided to illegally challenge for foul play.. didnt have to go for a HIA

Then Lemuelu dived on last tackle for the one from Staggs... no HIA for that either.

Meanwhile I saw one that we didnt dive on... coming out of yardage one of the backs copped a high one inside our 10-20m the whole team with arms up... no penalty and he got up and played the ball.

Only 2 penalties for us on the night and Walsh had to force their hand for one of them... the fix was in on Saturday but broncos manage to beat the 14th man on the field and 15th in the Sydney bunker

Zero chance Katoa dives if he knows he has to go for a mandatory HIA. That's their halfback.

Yeah exactly... and then someone piped up that they could challenge (illegally) and he was straight to his feet.

Players dive without star fishing on the ground and they dont get called by the doc to come off.

If the high shot is deemed hard enough for it to warrant being put on report then the player should be checked that he hasn't sustained a concussion... off you go for a HIA.

You start taking players off for 15mins just to get a penalty and it will slow down.

Forwards will still do it, but the rule for that should just be... if you pass your HIA then you have to come on for the same player that subbed you and as soon as you've been cleared.

If you dont do one of those then it counts as an interchange.

There won't be much gained by having forwards on and off for 15mins and it would be more likely to stuff up the rotation.

The forward that went for the HIA is also running the risk that they get HIA'd again and their night is then over

Was not the smoothest of wins by any means, but at this point of the season, a win is all that matters. Walsh was the best player for me.

And glad to be here! American fan for a couple of years now(Australian guy my brother does a boxing podcast with got us both to start watching the Broncos haha).

Welcome on board I hope you are able to witness us playing some games like we did back in the 90s. We were a sheer joy to watch then.

Pat and Payne still look tired, probably hard to argue with their minutes though, we've lost Xman and Tekura. Jenson does his job off the bench, but we don't really have players demanding quality minutes to give them a break. Talty did well, but he had a pretty bad miss when marshal-king got his try....so did Hunt though I think.

This weekend is even more interesting with jetski out and Piakura still unsure. If Piakura is not back, it's pretty slim pickings on the bench. Talty / Smoothy / Hetho / ??

Could be worse, the Knights aren't exactly travelling great, but this is the type of game we're likely to drop if we aren't switched on.

The laying down for penalties can be solved tomorrow if the NRL actually wanted to solve it. It's a very easy fix.

Many of the fans across many clubs have been saying it. And even Slothfield mentioned something similar on NRL360 ....

If a player is not able to immediately get to their feet to play the ball because of high contact, then they must leave the field for a mandatory HIA ... How many players will stay down if they know they have to leave the field for a minimum of 15 mins?

You can also just change it from reportable to sin bin/send off worthy... im pretty sure it was meant to come in for the howler, but as usual the howler gets brought back to 50/50's and now its rare for them to not deem something reportable so the rule no longer works.

The issue is half the refs at the moment dont wait to send it upstairs... theyll see a player hold his head or neck and the just blow then whistle instead of stuffing around for the bunker to come in.

There should be a directive from up top to not do this... let the players be shamed for taking the dive and then if it isn't sin bin worthy they're shamed even more by being told to play it.

Compile that with heading off for a HIA if they overact and it will be gone pretty quickly.

Unfortunately the NRL is soft as ****... they probably think that not penalising high shots that appear on the video makes them vulnerable to CTE claims in the future... if thats the case then send any divers off for a HIA assessment... theyll quickly stop doing it

Even if they want to keep blowing the pea out of the whistle because a player stays down, give the penalty if you must but also make the player go off for a HIA. And if it’s a forward trying down, it counts as an interchange.

I thought the on field ref did well letting all of then go initially (none of them where penelty worthy), only to be overulled by the bunker once players got a stoppage in play.

That makes too much sense for the NRL to implement.

I think it's because they slow it down and it's all black and white, he either did make contact with his head or he didn't and once they're in that situation, they can only rule it that way.
