here's the team lists.

right now I could go out and source (if i could be fucked) 20 different team lists from fans (team lists that differ from Kevvie's) ... and for every single one of those team lists, the person who came up with it will be adamant they are 100% correct in the team that should be running out on the weekend.

but what makes mine right, or nopaitence or sproj, or anyone else on BHQ or any of the list that the facebook fans would come up with ... Kevvie can't please everyone since he can't have all 36 player run out on the field.

I'm reminded of something Wayne Bennett wrote in his book. he said that if a coach starts listening to the fans, it won't long before he's sitting up in the grand stands with them.

Let's go through this a bit:

1. TMM - Has been really poor since coming back in
2. Oates - An absolute shining light this season but as it stands, remains unsigned
3. Staggs - Has been almost invisible more often than not since origin
4. Hoeter - I'll give Kevvie this one because let's be honest, who else is there given Herbie hasn't come back and Aquaman is too green
5. Cobbo - Has struggled badly since getting knocked out in origin
6. Gamble - For goodness sake, why hasn't he been getting games even off the bench? However, he's being shipped off to the Knights for some inexplicable reason
7. Reynolds - Is totally busted since the Raiders game, needed rest but didn't receive it
8. Haas - Has checked out and is playing like a bloke who doesn't want to injure himself before going to the Roosters, plays like a pillow
9. Turpin - No one and I mean no one wants him but we keep picking him despite being an absolute handbrake
10. Flegler - Was better off the bench for balance but we just keep on picking him to start
11. Capewell - Is injured and has been busted since origin, he also needed a rest and at present is just about unpickable as he is one of our worst defenders currently
12. Riki - Has looooooooooooooooooooooooong needed a break but just hasn't got one and is a defensive liability
13. Carrigan - Our one consistently elite forward, absolute gun

14. Walters - What the heck has Paix done to be offside with Kevvie? We have one half decent hooker and he just can't get a game, I don't get it
15. Palasia - He should have been ahead of James by a country mile and is a far better starting workhorse middle than impact prop
16. Jensen - Was going great guns as a workhorse starting prop so we change his role to make him an impact prop, has had an underappreciated season
17. Hosking - Great, he looks good, he's also outta the club in one game, he's also a long minutes workhorse second rower, why is he getting this spot ahead of Piakura and Robati??

Kevvie mate, you owe us an explanation.

Now, since we're talking about team lists, then I should give mine (which I guarantee some people will agree with and other will think i'm stupid)

I'd personally name this team with one eye on next season (given how unlikely the finals are for us)

I think it's time for Piakura to get another shot (admittedly, I don't watch too much QLD cup these days, so this is based on others reviews of his performances i have read)

I'd bring back TC, he's been out injured, but i believe he made his return to QLD cup last week

I'd give Mariner another game in the top grade to further his development.

I'd also be tempted to bring back Niu. TMM hasn't been in the same form as before his injury (and at this stage Niu will be our back up fullback in 2023) ... although if Herbie was 100%, i'd throw him in the deep end and see how he goes at fullback

Why can't we just put herbie in. Nothing to lose really

I spoke to him 4 weeks ago he said he was confident about coming back for this round, spoke to him last week he said he didn’t want to rush it as it’s still hurting a bit and he didn’t want to risk damaging it more which makes sense.

He looked GREAT in his game back and was looking great before said injury...doing research is good, that's true.

when did he sign with the Knights. I haven't seen that reported yet.

secondly there is a big difference between shipping someone off and allowing them to leave for a better opportunity.

for example:

Turpin, Lodge, TPJ = shipped off (for different reasons of course)

Gamble = released for better opportunity

Walsh (one coming our way) = released for personal/family reasons

Maybe Kev is an overly emotional man who makes team decisions based on emotion rather than logic or rationale.

We must be signing a hooker in the off season because Kev has said Turpin isn’t the man for the job but obviously rates him higher than Paix. So it’s either that or he plans on Billy being an 80 minute hooker

we're invested in Mam as our 6 ... and he has been performing well for us. although i probably would have rested him a couple of weeks ago.

but for next year, Gamble likely only gets a game if Mam is injured or suspended. which is why he wants to go in search of a better opportunity.

while having a half and a hooker may have worked against a wooden spoon contender, it would be fatal against the better teams (and if Kevvie did it and it didn't come off, then people would be burning him in effigy)

i think if you played flegler off the bench he's as good as gone , maybe playing the long game incase Haas legs it.
Robati would probably be underdone imo, and I think leaving Piakura in cup to play finals and continuing his good run of form .
palasia has been injured to im sure and paix is a big mystery.
