PRE-GAME Round 25 - Rabbitohs vs Broncos

I'm one of Copley's biggest fans but we aren't at a point where we can give him game time in the hope he will be better in a few weeks. He needed to be great straight away to keep his spot. Reed has done enough to have locked down his spot heading into the finals (for this year).

Agreed. Last week was abysmal defence. . Reed's bad defence the game before was due to injury. . Copley's was due to bad reads and a poor tackling style. Wasn't buying into the team game of holding a line either. . Just playing for himself. That's not who you need around. Sad maranta isn't in the side

He spent a lot of time on the floor too. Obviously didn't have his wet weather boots on. Oates isn't an 80 minute player yet. Maranta was doing really well this year, better than Kahu and Oates has a huge impact coming off the bench. I think Bennett might just be trying some new things out.

JACK Reed will return to the field against the South Sydney Rabbitohs tomorrow night.

Coach Wayne Bennett confirmed Reed would make a comeback from a one-week rest with a shoulder injury that kept him out of match against the Roosters.

He will replace Dale Copley at left centre.

Bennett also allayed any concerns over captain Justin Hodges after he finished training this morning in Sydney.

“Jack Reed will play and he will come in for Dale Copley,” said Bennett.

“There is nothing wrong with ‘Hodgo’, he is fine.”

Corey Oates will play on the wing as chosen by Bennett on Tuesday.

The rest of the team will also be as per program.

hope we see Jack back to his defensive best. He is one of the best at covering his man and sliding across in defence. Confident that Broncos will win this one, seems to be a pattern, if we lose against a team, we win the next game we play against them and vice versa

I have a feeling you might regret saying that later, Nash.

Sigh. Reed sucks.

I thought the same all through last season but so far he has improved 100%... And it's obvious he has worked hard on his flaws and deserves to be there. Now this could be that he's getting better ball through a half decent 5/8, and had Copley not been injured maybe he could have been given a chance early in the season and cemented the spot for himself...who knows. I like what Jack has done so far this season bar 1 or 2 games and if he can get back to his recent form he'll be very handy in the finals.

I agree with Pete. Copley is more talented, but at this stage you just kinda gotta roll with Reed. And hope he doesn't go back to being shit.

Once again happy to see Joe O getting plenty of first grade time. Perhaps he's getting to the stage where Bennett thinks he could be a permanent fixture.

Very happy to see Reed back in the team.

I'm far from a Copley basher but he's been hampered with injuries this year and at this stage of the season is merely there for cover.

Reed's defense has always been outstanding but that left edge attack involving Milf, Glenn and Reed has really been fruitful this season.

I don't get this Reed is good in D. The last few games he's been there, hasn't his side let down about 5 or 6 tries?

Flame suit on. Is it time to bring back Whitchurch haha.

Actuallly was impressed with him on the weekend against Easts. Good runs and defense at centre and in 2nd row.

Possibly carrying an injury ? Who knows ??

I remember him defending well in numerous games this year, and yes, even passing the ball to his winger ... putting in clever little kicks through the line, and scoring tries from kicks through from Hunt.

We know he can do it, i just hope he does it again for the rest of this season and beyond.

Reed was owned by Walker last time we played Souths

True, but if we aren't going to field guys that were owned by Souths the last time we played we better hope the U20's boys are all up for a first grade debut tonight.

Not a big fan of Thursday night footy.

It just doesn't feel the same..
