I think the Panthers will play a strong side regardless to get some game time with Cogger
Kevvie doesn’t have that mentality, his mentality is no more injuries, or suspensions or 11 day concussion stand downs this close to the finals. That’s all it is yet people can’t just take things at face value and need to find their own narratives.
After the season we have had and what Kevvie has done to turn this club around if he still can’t get the benefit of the doubt he never will, and it’s pretty sad.
andrew_gee_backs_into_bushes.gifI get that too, but it's not the worst tactic in the world to strategically aim to face a certain opponent, especially if you stand a much better chance against that team.
After years of misery we've wanted the Broncos to be more ruthless. To stop being the nice guys who release players because they have a sook, to stand up for ourselves at the judiciary and privately to the NRL when we get obviously fucked over. And to use our clout in order to facilitate player recruitment and retention.
I, for one, do not want to become like the Storm or the Roosters or the Sharks where cheating becomes a legitimate option. I'd rather never win a premiership than to stoop to those levels. But fielding a weakened team in order to avoid injuries, and, worst case scenario, lose the game, resulting in us facing a favourable team weak one of the finals? I'm here for that, every day of the week. **** the NRL and their mandate of entertainment over parity, here's your reserve grade teams for your Thursday night prime time, now go **** yourselves.
Would be good to see them play, would make it a 4 way battle for Rookie of the year. Rogers, Mozer, Te Kura, LeotaExtended bench is down to Te Kura and Leota - I think we'll be seeing both of them debut tomorrow night.
I don't think that whole 50 point curse counts tonight if that happens.
It's their reserve grade side.
Meanwhile, the Storm has also rolled out a seconds side, which might imply they also want to lose. Their prize for winning would be facing the Panthers next week. Can't go right for them either way.I get that too, but it's not the worst tactic in the world to strategically aim to face a certain opponent, especially if you stand a much better chance against that team.

Wrong. 30% change of the Storm showing up. 70% chance they'll be blown away.Untrustworthy report - 100% chance of Storm, they aren't forfeiting.
Maybe @Sproj is right: it's not us who has to worry. This is a game that both teams don't mind losing, in fact you could almost suggest both teams want to lose.
Melbourne would have a significantly better record against us, than they would have against Penrith in Penrith (I say that without knowing what their record in Penrith even is, I just know it can't be better than their record against us).
We would prefer to take on NZ at Suncorp, no doubt about that. They've done well this season but there's no denying they've had a pretty easy draw. The only other thing is do we care about the minor premiership, my honest answer to that would be no. Penrith will though.
Purely playing devils advocate here.Where is this idea we are scared of playing anyone including the Storm coming from? Resting players is the smart thing to do here and has three benefits:
1. No risk of injury or suspension to our main guys
2. Allows us to go in to finals fresh and firing
3. We are debuting a bunch of our kids and giving them a taste and extra motivation to hit preseason running
Additionally, finishing first or second is basically no difference and we can’t finish any lower than either position, so why risk injuring our stars against guys who don’t care if they get suspended because they won’t be playing next week anyway? And let’s not act like Bellamy would be above giving one of these reserve players the task of maiming a Walsh, Mam or Reynolds.
