PRE-GAME Round 3 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

I wonder what happens in that brain of yours! You say 'nearly everyone is playing like shit in defence '. Okay but how is it that the Titans and the Broncos missed exactly 31 tackles each and MILFORD WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR 5 OF THEM!!!!
You must be kidding, surely!

Piss weak surrenders!Aside from Milford I never saw that and I was there live and have reviewed it in detail. It's clear to me now, you simply have no idea. These guys busted a gut out there and kept trying right up until stumps. Yes, Milford, Nui and Asiata have a bit to answer for in defence and of course Milford failed in both departments but to say the rest of the team ' entitled or self indulgent' is utterly ridiculous.

As a fan, you are a knowledge-less disgrace.

Mate, why do you need to personalise, or rather attack so many on here, personally? Are you having daddy issues?

Because of that I won't grace your post with a reply.

No, I don't attack 'so many'. That's just like your endless attacks on guys busting their guts out on the field and you accusing them of cowardice, apathy, greed and an endless string of vitriolic twaddle. I'm attacking your attacks. You clearly don't understand the game or how hard these guys are working. It sickens me.

We have a tendency to make ordinary players look like world beaters.

Expect Kyle Flanagan to find red hot form.

Should be able to replay it on Kayo, it's a free stream too.

A couple of observations:

- It is gonna be very hard for Kevvie to keep Dearden out of this side if Milford and Croft have another shocker next weekend. The only question that will be on his mind is which of the two drops out for him? For mine it has to be Milford, if only for the statement it would make but it isn't like Croft isn't on thin ice as well. A lot of people will say it has to be 6. Milford 7. Dearden just because of Milf's long kicks and their promising combinations last year, which is a fair enough point, but I really don't want Kev getting into the habit of chopping and changing players constantly like Harvard grad did. Whatever decision he makes, he has to stick with it for a fair while IMO.

- Oates isn't far off the pace either but dumping Mead for him would be pretty harsh in my view. Mead has more experience, is a more specialist winger and hasn't done much wrong. The only way I can see Oates pushing his way back in is as a bench utility.

- Locke might have a scored a double but he looks like he stole Milford's Maccas card lol The guy is HUUUGE. I'm not sure what he would bring that Kennar doesn't, and having a notoriously injury prone player running around with that much weight is a recipe for disaster.

- KHunt did okay in his first hitout in League in years and did well to set Oates up in the first but was otherwise pretty quiet. It's a similar sort of situation as Oates, whoever has to drop out for him is going to feel hard done by, but **** his experience is looking appealing at the moment.

I agree with you that dumping Mead would be harsh. What about this as a potential option... if Oates can perform solidly again on the wing for South’s he comes into the squad on the flank and Mead takes fullback? Didn’t he play 1 in Super League?

I guess that could be a feasible option. I'm just not 100% sure what Mead brings at the back that Isaako doesn't. He's never struck me as much of an organizer and Isaako always has his sharpshooter boot and youth to fall back on.

At the end of the day, Oates will need to be playing absolutely out of his skin to make it back into the 13, and I don't think he is quite there yet.

Croft shocker? Not sure what he did wrong. Milford had a shocker. Croft's stats tell a different story and no, not his tackling which was excellent but try assists, line breaks, line break assists. Think you'd benefit from watching a replay. I'd take his performance everyday of the week. Hope he plays like that all year. If we could get rid of the shockingly bad Milford defence and the poor misses by Asiata and Nui we'd have a much better result.

The reality is we lost the game on Friday in the 10 minute period before half time. Lapse in attitude, effort and ill-discipline during this period cost us and the Titans went into the break up by 16. Any team, even the bad ones, can match it with anyone else for long periods. It's just the 'bad' teams such as ourselves struggle for 80 minute consistency and seem to always make an error, missed tackle or concede a try at the wrong moment which leads to a 10-15min collapse. I don't know how Kevvie goes about rectifying this and ensures our concentration levels are high. I don't think its fitness like some people think. It doesn't help that we are undermanned and have a depleted line-up. We will get better as the season continues and players become available. I DO NOT believe it is all doom and gloom like some others do. We DO NOT need to make wholesale changes for the sake of it - when we've been competitive for long periods in the first two rounds against a top 4 and top 8 contender respectively.

Having just read the referee's report's for the weekend and the way the NRL are making a huge fuss about cracking down on head-high tackles after seeing way too many in the first two rounds, you can bet your bottom dollar that they are looking for a scapegoat from a low lying club to punish big time. This means TPJ needs to be so squeaky clean and all our players for that matter as the NRL will make an example of one or two players this coming round to almost 'virtue-signal' that they are serious about concussions.

I hope to God that somebody with our coaches ear reads and understands how vitally important it is to keep your tackles down this weekend as the first high-shot will probably end up being sent off.

Thank God we're playing deep into the round (Saturday game) as they may well have made their statement by then by sending someone off from another team.

Believe me guys, it's happening this round a big crackdown on head-highs. And most likely a send-off.

Also for the love of god Kevie make sure they don’t kick to cotrics corner.....I don’t want to sound like captain obvious but deadset.
Assuming the same kicking game as rounds 1 & 2 they most likely will be. They've been primarily kicking to the opposition left winger (Sivo rd 1 and Thompson rd 2).

Hopefully they change that up though, because as you mentioned Cotric is on that side along with Meaney who are both relatively safe. Also kicking to that side allows Cotric to be involved in the get out set, which we dont want. Make him come to the other side of the field for a run.

The other wing will contain DWZ's replacement. DWZ would've been handy to have playing in this game, because he's extremely suspect under the bomb. Unfortunately he'll be out suspended and the back up in Crichton is injured for the year I believe, so that wing will have their 4th winger. Not sure who that will be, but it's the dogs so cant be that great a player.

In saying that when we are inside the 20m we should be looking to kick to Cotric's side as Meaney will be up against Coates... huge aerial advantage right there that we must look to exploit

DWZ confirmed out suspended, and Kaufusi will also be out in our game V Melbourne the following week with a 2 week ban if he pleads guilty (3 if he contests and fails)
