PRE-GAME Round 3 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

He was. Well the majority of us determined he was at least in the top two and Darren Lockyer thought he was our best.

And look at the work Darren has done in his recruitment and retention role at the club, may well not be the best judge going around hey.

Regardless, he WAS worst on ground in the other game. All Seibold's fault right?

Recruitment and retention are a different kettle of fish to picking best on ground don't you think?

The Croft experiment needs to end.

He's been a terrible buy and it's just not working. Time to give Dearden the reigns.
I don't understand? What exactly did Croft do wrong last night? I mean he was vastly superior to Milford. One tackle bust, one try assist, one linebreak, only one missed tackle( stopped the guy long enough for others to finish it off) only one error, 6 one on one tackles, 21 tackles out of 22.

Milford though missed 5 tackles out of 20 attempts! 0 line breaks, 0 tackle busts, 0 try assists and 0 line break assists!

Like I said, Croft wasn't the problem. He didn't play badly at all. I think people should rewatch the game.

As always, it was because of his one mistake kicking on the third (and it was really dumb) but also as always, Milford seems to be undroppable despite, as always, being worse than Croft.

You know typical stuff.

OK no worries but you didn't think for a second people would take you for your word?

I know I did until I went and looked it up myself.
yeah I should of made it a bit more clear, it was like a spin on reality. Dry humour you know like thats the type of luck we have.

Okay. I don't remember the kicking on the third but I'll have to have a look. Was it in the second half? I'm only 10 mins into the second half of my silent review. YouTube looked like more fun for the last few hours.

I can’t remember but I think it was first half. I replayed it, it was him. It was so dumb because we were their side of the halfway.

Croft is really flawed but he never goes missing, he is always trying even if falling short and yet he is the one always in the firing line simply because of Milf’s wage and the fact he can kick further. I feel sorry for Croft.

I'm interested to see how Walters responds this week.

Round 3 is typically the round where you start to see coaches drop players and try different combinations. I don't think the Broncos have that luxury, a lot of the alternatives need a spell in reserves just to work on their finer points so when they get the call up they'll be ready to make a difference.

It's a dilemma but I could forgive Kev if he decides to largely stick with the side

Yep, you’d almost take a gamble that the bulldogs are so bad that a mostly unchanged side can sneak a win and buy the guys in Q cup another week or 2 to impress.

Agreed... and I think changes will be made after storm rd 4.

I think we beat the dogs (at home and hopefully on a dry track), but storm will put on a clinic.

I think we need to realise that under the current NRL the comp is split into tiers and at this stage we're in the bottom tier.

What that means is we need to focus our energy on beating teams within our tier (dogs, cows, drags, etc.), but when we come up against a top tier we're basically cannon fodder.

It's the reality V'Lando has created and you can't change tiers without superstar recruitment and to me that's not available until 2023

I actually think that period of games could be the making of Brisbane. If they can be competitive with those teams or even cause an upset it could be the type of win that sets them up in the long run.

I'm not getting ahead of myself with this team, they'll have their hands full with the Bulldogs as is.

To be honest I think it's fantastic that we are playing the top quality teams after the Dogs. There's no downside. If we never give up, no matter the score, excellent. If we compete for the most part but get outclassed, excellent. If we get smashed, painful but again a great thing because it rams home what we need to do. Sure we will probably lose most of those games if not all but the major goal must be achieved, namely that we never concede.

For inspiration I'd do a highlights package of Danny Nutley's one and only origin game and show them what 'never give up' means. I understand that Gould did something similar with Webcke so, a loop then of both.

Surely we can win this game, If our halves can pretend to have a brain for 5 seconds and not do stupid shit kicks that turns the game on us we should be capable of beating the dogs.

It’s a fair enough and positive way of looking at it but there is a major downside that can’t be overlooked. These kids are getting murdered and beat up every week. They then get smashed in the media and by fans. That is not good for them. This stretch could further break some already potentially bent kids. Some may never recover from these last few years.

I'd almost prefer we not kick and just turn the ball over inside their 20 at this rate. Outside of kicks to Coates, they've been pretty dogshit overall and if they weren't, then the chase was
