POST GAME Round 3 - Broncos vs Dragons

I wouldn't be moving Bird just as he's beginning to build a decent combo with Oates. The bottom line is Nikorima needs to perform or perish. We may have a drought of quality hookers waiting in the wings but the same can't be said for the halves.

As others comment, Gillo just has to return to the right edge to fix the defence and we need a big body at lock, and I don't mean TPJ. I don't think his form is anywhere near the solid consistent defence that we need at lock.
To me he doesn’t yet look the same player. Maybe new position, maybe getting over his injuries. Time will tell.

We can’t move Bird, he’s been arguably our best player at center. Bennett got lambasted for trying to play him in the halves and moving him around.

The tries we scored tonight were mostly lucky, we did nothing to create any opportunities or really build pressure.

Ravalawa drops it cold, we pick it up, try. Widdop drops it cold, we pick it up, try. Roberts intercept try. Etc.

Tonight's performance was diabolically bad if you break it down and really analyze it.

Our first contact was extremely poor too, dropping off tackles, missing tackles etc. Not to mention no energy at all in the defensive line. No enthusiasm. That's an attitude and fitness problem, not a coaching issue.

What's wrong with these guys?

We were soft in the middle tonight but our goal line D wasn't too bad. Too many errors fucked us...When we completed sets we rolled through them pretty well and managed to build pressure, and looked dangerous with the ball.
Tighten up the defence in the middle and hold on to the fucken ball and we win that game.
Hate losing but I'm not too upset. I'm pretty confident they'll switch on over the next few weeks, and when the passes start sticking we're going to be hard to beat.

I think that was more though due to his injury last year. He is a different proposition this year.

You tell us, you're the one making the statement?

Leadership. Boyd isn't a captains asshole.

He killed it in his 2 games of 1st grade last year, what more do you fekin want?
The club didn't even put him in the top 29, which means until June 30th we need dispensation from the NRL to play him at all. McCullough is so institutionally enshrined in our 17 that we would have to ask for permission from the league to replace him with Turpin.

I'm loving Seibold as a coach. His presser was pure composure and highlighted all our weaknesses as a young squad and what we need to do to win these type of games. Can't wait to see what he'll elevate this squad to.

There's a bright future ahead guys.

PS. He's a new coach with a new squad, he'll make changes where he sees fit. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel 3 rounds in.

I can’t speak for the whole game but I thought the little I saw of our attacking structure looked promising.

As far as defence goes, I couldn’t agree more. Our first contact was piss poor and that fed through to the wrestle in the ruck. For me, it seems like a little lack of discipline in our defensive spacings and structures.

Two fucking weeks in a row he has taken the dummy and tackled thin air. How fucking hard is it to tackle the bloke with the ball, or at least try, rather than taking the soft globe-trotters option of intercepting the pass that never happens and letting the try in. I can’t believe he was ever rep standard going by current decision making.

I can only hope that the emotional disconnect Seibold has compared to Bennett sees him consider tapping Boyd on the shoulder towards the end of the year. It's time to give it away.

End of the year is way too far away

The only reason I say end of the year is I can't find a player who can slot into fullback in the meantime, especially now that Isaako is looking out of form

I'm asking the question, genius.
Why are you asking us? We're 3 rounds into a season. Who gives a ****! Focus on the positives at this stage. No one wins a premiership in March. Thanks for calling me a genius, which I am, but also stop getting so butthurt over one loss. There's still a lot of footy to be played before pulling out the old crybaby card.

Why can’t we win the premiership since no one expects us to?

Because our defence is average, our spine is crap and our forwards while many are talented, aren't playing like pack that will consistently dominate other teams.

We are so far away from being a premiership threat it's not funny and the insistence our club has on keep the fabled 'class of 08' plodders in key positions means we never will. This fantasy that they are actually elite NRL players has cost us a decade (or more now) of missed opportunities.

Except Alex Glenn's try.
