PRE-GAME Round 3 - Storm vs Broncos

We need to play like the rd 25 game last year - expansive, open footy and go for it. Spin the ball wide a lot more.

I feel there were enough good signs last night to show that we can definitely be competitive with the best teams. But Melbourne always always always give us problems. Hard one to pick.

I do want to see Ofahengaue get a shot. He looks stronger this year and if he can take inspiration and produce a similar effort to Ese'Ese against the Cowboys, we can certainly afford to carry both players on the bench. At the moment, Ese'Ese is the only recognised prop on the bench and although TPJ provides great impact and momentum, I don't trust his defence and fitness in the closing stages of a match, just yet. Fitness wise, Ofahengaue has most young forwards covered, but if he can carry the ball strongly with purpose, he could be a crucial member of our team.

We are one of the best teams.

Against the Storm, to win, you need to defend as well as they do, as well as we did in '15, and, throw the ball around, preferably with Hunt and Milford on the same side creating opportunities for Roberts and Moga

It'll be tight, but we can definitely win it. Even if we lose, I think we'll be sending a message to the comp that we're contenders this season.

Priority number 1 for Boyd is making sure the refs police the ruck properly, it's still early in the season so they may enforce the rules.

Another tight game, coin flip

How the Storm have played under pressure in the first 2 weeks of the competition compared to us, and their great starting record. I feel we are at long odds to win this.

Hunt and Milford haven't played on the same side of field since 2015 when Walters assisted. But nowadays Bennett ball doesn't allow it.

Up against our our ol bogey team the Melbourne Storm..

If we could somehow just win this one It would take away some of that nightmarish pain from the Cowboys clash thats for sure. The hunger was there against the Cowboys no doubt. Will be interesting to see if the boys can recover, maintain that hunger, and "execute" better next week.
We were soft in defence in patches last night and though we weren't bad offensively one gets the feeling there is much more left in this Broncos Team. (There is a gear they have not found since 2015).

Am never confident leading into a game against the Storm. We owe Melbourne a thrashing. It's gotta happen one day. If the Broncos are ON and can find that extra gear, watch out Storm.. But if I was a betting man my money is on Melbourne for this one. We'll win the next week against the Raiders is it?

Melbourne played the majority of their game against the Warriors in torrential rain, surely that has to have an effect on the body, it's not like they had a walk in the park. If we can get in front like we did last season we are a real chance, if it's one thing the Storm have as a weakness is they can struggle to chase points. Unfortunately for the Broncos one of our weaker points is letting teams in when we have a lead.
