PRE-GAME Round 3 - Storm vs Broncos

Really can't see a win here.. Melbourne are in scintillating form - despite how well we went this week.
Their backs will destroy us I feel!

Melbourne played the majority of their game against the Warriors in torrential rain, surely that has to have an effect on the body, it's not like they had a walk in the park. If we can get in front like we did last season we are a real chance, if it's one thing the Storm have as a weakness is they can struggle to chase points. Unfortunately for the Broncos one of our weaker points is letting teams in when we have a lead.

If that's our only way of winning by hoping the other team is tired then we are screwed.

Storm at Melbourne early in the season after a golden point match against the Cowboys.. real tough ask. Storm hit the ground running, probably more than any other team.

Of course, not impossible though. Feel our pack can match it with theirs, considering Bromwich and Harris are missing. Get some second phase happening of Sims, Ese'Ese. Make sure Milford is sniffing around the middle along with Kodi - get him back on the bench.

Lol...because that's what I said. My comments were more in reference to everyone saying that we are less chance of winning because of our golden point game. I was simply pointing out that Melbourne didn't have it all their own way in their game this weekend and they to may have some fatigue, especially given they have a day of overseas travel to contend with.

Badel in the Courier Mail is reporting Slater will be back this round.

Oh great, the refs can now fabricate a Slater comeback story. It's good for the game after all.

It shapes as a big night for Melbourne.

Not only is it their first home game, but they'd be looking at this as a revenge game after the Round 25 performance last season. We all saw how unsettled they looked after that game and it appears they haven't forgotten with Vunivalu drawing a very similar penalty to what we saw Anthony Milford earn last year.

With Slater returning, it makes a difficult game that much harder. Billy has been one of the Broncos most feared opponents scoring 20 tries from 26 matches and proving a real thorn in the Broncos line-up. Expect a big performance from him, especially since the last time the Broncos beat a Melbourne team with Billy was in Round 9 2010. If you want to go further and spot the last time the Broncos beat a Storm side with Slater-Cronk-Smith in the line-up, that was Round 2 2009. If you want to include a game that didn't include a bad refereeing decision...Round 19 2005, with Slater at fullback, Cronk at five-eighth and Smith at dummy half.

You wouldn't get that kind of trivia from the FoxSports lab.

Absolute beauty of a post.

Yeah but you are forgetting the most important stat posted earlier in the thread, the Broncs don't lose when I'm at the game in Melbourne.
You need to start attending more games at Suncorp when the Storm are in town. A gift like yours just cannot be wasted.

I assume Slater slots straight in to Fullback with Munster swapping to Five-Eighth.. Or maybe they'll give Billy a game off the bench to ease him in to it.

Very few coaches will use up a precious interchange just for someone in the backline. He will either start or he won't play.

It's simple.

One of their players goes off for a HIA and get a free interchange.

I'm not going to lie here, I would be extremely disappointed if we don't target Slater if he is back this game. Bomb him and isolate him so he has to make the hitups.

Yeah, first thoughts about Billy playing this week was that the Storm have targeted this game to ease him back against his mates. Blair will go hard, hopefully the others do too..

How did Benji and Niko go any chance for a run this week

If Slater is back its good for us i reckon. rather get him now ,when he hasn't played for a year. there also must be some lingering doubt about whether he will get through the game. as anyone who has come back from a major injury will tell you, it getting your head right that takes the time.
