That`s interesting ...
You have mentioned his "talk " in several posts recently .
Err, because it's been offered up as the excuse, I'm sorry the reason why he's in the team. People making excuses for his appalling lack of go forward have been saying it's his on field talk that is so valuable, his organisational skills blah blah that are the desired traits but I've never been one of them. Make metres, make tackles has been my preference. Clearly you have somehow misunderstood that.

Seems there is a fair bit of momentum around Brenko being in this week:

Personally hoping Tesi is dumped on Gameday with Herbie to 1 and Brenko at centre. Just don't name the squad that way to avoid the media circus.

Or he's just going to be 18th man and nothing changes.

Probably something cooked like chucking him on the bench to play 12 minutes at 2nd row
Unfortunately I think your guess is more likely than mine.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Lee in the second row or even Kotoni to second row and Lee to centre. Niu seems to be a Kevvie project, so cannot see him being dumped even though I too would love to see Herbie at 1.

Considering these same people are likely the same people who say we need to rely on Haas less, give him more breaks etc, we can't exactly do that when blokes like James are making no metres whatsoever and giving our halves and backs absolutely nothing to work with when Haas is off.

I'm not even Kennedy's biggest fan but anyone watching us properly the last few weeks can see James has been abysmal at what is the main role of a FRF, and we have a ready made replacement in Kennedy that deserves a crack.

The stuff about his talk is rubbish, we have a captain, its not him and he can do all the inspirational talking he wants at training for these young forwards.

Just my 2c of course.

Communication is so key. Its better if you could have somebody like James making more impact but keeping blokes on in the right positions and keeping them switched on is something we dont have a lot of. Our backline for example probably has 1 bloke who is vocal and hes a winger. On field guidance is still something this side needs sadly.

It will be interesting to see this weeks game because our tightness in defence in the first two games was excellent. James will probably stay as long as thats the case on a regular basis because as a team we lack organisers. There is a good reason we have been down the bottom for a few years. We just dont have a lot of experience in the squad to deal with adversity and we still have a fair few that dont compete and do the 1 percenters for the entire game.

Not sure how much sport you’ve played but defending with good talkers makes the world of difference. Guys in the middle relying on Adam to organise defence will be in for a tough time.

For so long these were the excuses for why Boyd should be in the team, despite being the laughing stock of the NRL and providing next to nothing.

I don’t recall you having a problem with such excuses then.

And sure, James has done nothing with the ball, but unlike your mate Boyd, at least he’s making tackles.

For all we know Kev has asked him to not over do with ball in hand but instead concentrate on tightening up the middle defence. He gets 300-400m out of Payne and Patty.

I’m not saying it’s a good game plan but there is a chance it is a game plan.

When off the bench Kennedy makes tackles too but he also makes metres which James doesn't. If James does in fact start this will be the right way to use him I believe. He's had three weeks to show us he can go forward and it hasn't happened. I did call for this, for James to start because I do think it's the best way to get metres out of him. There's no excuse this week, James must make metres. I would not be surprised if he actually does either.

Played quite a lot of football in the middle actually and I get that obviously talking is important, but we're not suggesting guys like Kennedy and co don't talk at all are we? James is an older experienced head, which is perfectly fine, but you also can't carry a 40m a game prop just because he talks a bit more in defence and expect to do anything of note in the competition imo.

You are underselling yourself, that is at least 5c worth, maybe 10c.

I believe you do have to carry players like that when your team is as fragile as ours is. Its really not ideal but its more than just talk from him. Its organisation and a calmer head on top of him defending well. We need to get our defence right before anything else. Once as a team we dont keep collapsing under pressure then i think we can move away from him.

Saying all that, if we keep leaking points with him in the side then its clearly going to have to be looked at because it will mean he isnt offering anything really.
