Early in pre season I saw a pic of Brenko and posed the question could he be 2nd rower back up ?
He has the size and mobility .

I was really disappointed with Lee on Saturday night, he was a ghost out there. Didn't make mistakes but just was completely vacant.

Johns makes an interesting comment here. He (and Fitler) think Selwyn should go to fullback (we already knew that), but adds the reservation that he doesn't talk. It's a little hard to tell whether he means Tesi or Selwyn, but I'm pretty sure it's Selwyn:

It looks like a problem right across the park to me, and might explain why they all seem to be playing their own games. There's clearly no communication between Staggs and Cobbo, Farnworth and Oates, or Tesi and anyone. Correct me if you think I'm wrong but I haven't detected any.

Perhaps someone who's been to a match this year might weigh in.

haven't seen much chat at all mate... when we were camped on our line with few drop outs vs the cows it was capes doing all the talking

Walters is happy with him, he's obviously doing something right.
I agree somewhat! KWs closer to the action, knows the 'vibe' and is doubtless a better judge than I. Still I cannot help wonder why go forward is not important especially when our lack of it has been repeatedly mentioned by all and sundry. I'm referring to our bench here. Anyway, I will see what we get from James starting if that eventuates.

I don’t care about James, Boyd, Turpin, Kennedy or anyone else.

Like I said, when people were excusing Boyd for contributing shit numbers because he was a good communicator or a good leader (which I still doubt, as the proof really is in the pudding), why weren’t you criticising him like you are James? Indeed, you, unlike almost every other person who saw Boyd’s final few seasons, thought his contributions were good, to the point you declared he was one of our best. The bloke was a passenger, a meme, yet somehow you thought he was good. You defended Boyd for the same things you’re criticising James for now.

There’s your hypocrisy.

But if you still don’t understand how you’re being a hypocrite, to use a Huge-ism: like Isaako, Boyd and every other plodder (like James is) you’ve defended, Walters keeps selecting James (like Barrett and Stuart before him and like Holbrook just did with Isaako - remember the old thread you reignited on Tuesday because Isaako was selected by Holbrook…), so he obviously sees something in him.
You see, this is where you misunderstood my point of view. I only said he played well in his final season not that he was always in good form. I've also acknowledged KW is a better judge than I am but it doesn't mean I agree with all his decisions. I also had different reasons for Boyd than James as they played quite different roles. I don't think it can be argued that a prop doesn't need to provide go forward for the team and this is my issue with James. 107 metres in as many minutes over three games is truly dreadful.

What I would say is Boyd is a good leader just like Glenn was. People might not want to believe that, but the other players wouldn't back blokes who don't offer something. What I do think though is that doesn't make them a good captain, which on the field they clearly didn't show they were. Leadership comes in all different forms. We have really been lacking an on field leader more than anything since Locky.

Well that settles it. He’s good enough for a Walters team list.

You are most likely being sarcastic, none of us know any better.

The same with Cobbo at fullback, if you were watching QLD Cup last year you'd be ripping your hair out wondering why he's not the fullback in our NRL team.. that was until Walters gave him that opportunity in a trial and he was found wanting in basic effort areas.

Kevvie sees all these things that us mugs don't.

Plenty of players have carved up ISC but can't translate it to NRL. Look at Isaako on our own doorstep.

Not really, in ISC he just ran and made breaks- He had two try assists in his 9 games at fullback. That was never going to be an NRL fullback in '22. I repeatedly said it over summer. He hasn't shown any NRL fullback qualities.

Cobbo's passing improved his second stint in ISC. His two try assists were in the last round and prelim final.

The breakdown of receipts and passing/running was 77 passes/230 times he touched the ball in 10 games.

Brenko rotating in for Kotoni at right centre.

Who is rotating in for Riki ?

Kotoni to 2nd row ?

@Wolfie just out of curiosity, did staggs like second row?

Dunno mate. He hasn't played there much but tbh I've always thought he would end up there. I've been pretty vocal in the past I think it could be his best position, so he will probably stay at center and kill it 😄

I thought he'd be taller.

haha, he's a dwarf apparently

Jokes aside a lot of people think he's tall for some reason. He's listed as 6'1 which is just bs I've met him (I'm 6'3) and he's 5'11 maybe 6'0 at best.

He's just a fast twitch power nugget.
I would have said he is about 6ft. I have always and still thought he could be a better back rower than a center.
