After thinking on it overnight, I really am leaning toward not having wholesale changes. This is a young team and I do not want to excuse such a poor performance yesterday BUT this team has also been vastly improved over the backend of last season and early this season, so the majority should have a chance to make amends.
Kevvie will get raked across the coals if he makes more than a change or two, especially after only one loss. He's trying to get stability now. He must not meddle with the halves, and the same probably applies to the entire spine. Tesi is only two games back from injury, and really shouldn't have even played last week.

If Kevvie wanted Jake to run more, he'd already be running more. I doubt bringing in a new hooker would change much. The coach needs to change his direction.

I'd drop cobbo to cup the kid needs some confidence and at 19 he ain't going to get that at nrl level , bring in Pereira and hopefully that will give Staggs more confidence aswell as niu.
No other changes for me other than bringing flegler back in and replacing Riki with Robati if needed.
Kevvie needs to back these guys and changing to much will unsettle the team .
If they get blown off the park after a few more games then so be it changes need to be made.
I think a few people are completely underestimating the Cowboys they've got a great balance of experience and youth , and that's across the park and decent depth and i think they will surprise many.

If I am Kev this week I would do a few little things this week
1. Get Hodges to talk to Staggs about getting himself in the game a bit more. Couple of nice early touches to get the confidence up. He was guilty of trying to hard yesterday and trying to make up for it with every touch. He needs to get some dummy half work going to get himself into the game
2. I would send Cobbo for a spell in reggies for a week and get someone like Periera in to make some metres out of our own end. Cobbo is still very much a raw talent that needs a lot of polishing. Might even be time for him to go back and start working on becoming a fullback
3. Flegler straight on to the bench, James drops out (offers minimal value anyways), Hethrington to lock and Carrigan to the front row.
4. Talk to Reynolds and Kelly - they need to be playing both sides of the field for the combo to work or punt Kelly and get another 6
5. For Rikis replacement, Robati seems to be the logical choice but we need a bench second rower specialist (not a front rower) - maybe Pikaura if he isn't injured. My choice would be more defensive sound rather than attacking at this point.
6. I think Nui will be fine at fullback. Coming back from injury it seems he doesn't trust him hammy yet like Staggs. Could still be a couple of weeks away from full fitness.
7. Talk to Capewell and the halves about giving him more early ball. He is a decent ball runner who is barely touching the ball during the games. They are wasting his potential ball playing

Jake and Kobe weren't charged, so will be available this weekend.
Still waiting for scan results on Jordan Riki's ribs.

Niu and Cobbs don't have a full brain capable of thinking about football between them, they really shouldn't be in an NRL team, and Niu should absolutely not be in a vital position in the spine.

Turpin, why? Why is he still a Bronco? And Staggs needs to be dropped to reserve grade to remind him that his contract means shit.

The talk of dropping staggs is fucking laughable haha... he's had 3 bad games but ffs last year he played 4 games afyer an acl and was nearly our best player every game. He came back and went 100 miles an hour then got injured again, of course he's gonna come out slow. Yes he has been well below par but 3 games?! After 50 games of quality?! Ffs calm your farm people. If he is this poor in another 3 games and we are still losing then you START the chat (we can afford to carry someone like that to find form if we are winning while they regather it). Ffs glad people on here aren't the coach, we'd be getting flogged by 50 each week bcos every player would be afraid they'd be getting dropped each week.

I thought we'd have a game we didn't show up, we can't go from bottom 4 team to just winning every game we are expected to win. Also thought people were talking the Cowboys down too easily on here. It's not the "magical" Townsend and deaden, it's their defence. DEFENCE wins in the nrl, it frustrated us when we could only get a penalty try in that 15 minute, then when we lost riki (who has turned into a bit of a rock defensively) it turned that edge to mud.

It was poor but I'm not getting 2020 vibes
Dropping Staggs isn't about what he could do potentially. His head isn't in the right place. His positioning sucks, that's why he's getting hit early. He keeps trying to go for the miracle tap on, he's not getting himself involved. He needs a kick in the ass and round 4 is the perfect time to do it. He doesn't have to come out all guns blazing, but his head has dropped and it needs fixing.

My lineup for next week would be

1. Farnworth
2. Oates
3. Staggs
4. Brenko
5. Cobbo
6. Kelly
7. Reynolds
8. Haas
9. Paix
10. Carrigan
11. Capewell
12. Robati
13. Kobe

14. Flegler
15. Palasia
16. Piakura
17. Walters

So that's Turpin, Niu, James out. Riki out with injury.

Cobbo needs a stint in cup and changing the spine like that is to dramatic after one loss , it's one of Turpin or Niu not both but I'm not sure on how much training Farnworth has done at fullback, just because people think he'd go well dosen't mean you should just throw him in there especially since he's our best centre atm.

His head isn't in the right place.
And dropping him to qld cup will help that you think? Also sends the message to the rest of the team "I don't care how well you play, 3 crap games and you're dropped!" Staggs was an absolute weapon nearly every single game he had before this year, that's around 50 games. What next, haas has 5 bad games he's dropped? That's literally the ratio you are talking...

I reckon Haas might like that, makes his chances of getting to the Roosters that much closer.

If dropping him to work on his timing and fitness gives him the shits then he can **** off too

It sends the message that I DO care how well you play, and three shit efforts in a row gets you dropped for a week, doesn't matter who you are. Five in a row? Absolutely Haas could go for a week. Never happen though.

I still think Cobbo is better used in the centres but Herbie has been on fire lately and I don't think Staggs deserves to be dropped.

Staggs made a few handling errors but he also should've had a try assist if Reynolds holds on to that ball or at least doesn't knock it on, not many other centres can do that sort of thing and leave defenders behind like he did. I absolutely believe he has been instructed to not over do it with the dummy half runs and Kevvie basically said that himself in the press conference.

I think we just concede he's going to take a while to get back to his very best after a major injury but you don't have to look too hard to see what a damaging player he is. Old mate Holmes couldn't do anything to stop him a few times, you think we're overpaying Staggs, have a look at the deal Holmes is on.
