Don't get too harsh on them it is there new full seasons in the starting sides positions. They are both only going to get better for sure.

20th of April my next broncos match

 

[Ejbroncos]

Sailor- great performance. Some good runs from our own end and did well under a few bombs

Mariner- making good runs and good extra metres in traffic

Staggs- brutal contact in attack and defence

Cobbo- poor in attack but made Laybutt look like a cup player in defence

Arthars- not much input or impact tonight. Still did a job

Mam- threatened the line a lot and looked confident again

Reyno- my MOTM. Perfect performance.

Jensen- solid performance as usual. Does the job required with no errors

Walters- direct and gun tonight. Made their markers second guess themselves several times. Surprised he didnt get more mins.

Baker was great tonight. Quick play the balls. No errors. Big difference from last week.

Riki- solid defence as always. Wish we’d utilise his line running more though.

Hunt- solid in both attack and defence. Good first contact when he hits.

Carrigan- absolute weapon. Exposed Lolo on that first run before our try.

Smoothy- solid. Not as engaging as Walters at hooker but one of his better games tonight.

Hetherington- some unreal runs andquick ptb’s.

Willison- solid performance. Loves the physicality. Thought he made a lot more metres and hitups than the stats show. Man handled a few of their players. Can see big upside once he’s fully confident. Had an arm free a lot of times.

Oates- very good short stint. Did well. Made ridiculous metres! Only worry for him playing backrow is he has the turning circle of a semi trailer so could be exposed in defence.

All in all great game by our boys and im glad we didnt let them back in at all and kept the foot on the throat the whole game.

Credit to Billy, I thought the Broncos lacked composure around the ruck and weren't playing direct enough so far this season. He fixed that up tonight and it got Brisbane off to a great start.

Not a perfect performance by any means, but this was the type of performance he was producing in the second half of 2023.

Pretty sure he's not said he doesn't rate him, pretty sure he said he's concerned about his defence.

He did have a couple of poor efforts in that regard tonight, so tonight doesn't ease those concerns at all despite how good he was on the ball.

Billy Walters best game this year. Willison is a beast and really does look to be our new Flegler off the bench. Thought Kevvy timed putting Oates on to perfection and a fresh Oates against a tired defence is a thing of beauty. Baker had a much better game than we've seen so far. Instead of going for the all or nothing plays and being dragged into touch Selwyn has to just learn to take the 90 m gained as a win and stay infield ffs.
All in all a great win.

Oates made 29 metres in like 15 mins of footy..
Made half as much as some blokes who played 80

Everyone did exactly what was required of them to win this one. Reynolds needs to play more like this, he looked more relaxed and just played the director role. Pat was outstanding and Jensen had his best outing this year.
Baker is finding his feet in the side and needs a few more games to get Broncos fit I think but it was his best game tonight. This side can jag a few more wins despite the injuries and If we get better luck with them later in the year we will be there at he business end for sure. Up the Broncos and it was great to see the old war horse Corey get a try.
