PRE-GAME Round 4 - Broncos vs Roosters

Hodgo on NRL tonight just said that we're going to be without Turpin "for a number of weeks".

Did Seibold tell Macca to **** off, or did he tell him he wouldn't be first choice and Macca has gone in search of regular footy? My bet is it was the latter. The club has then granted him a release, as it's the least we could do after his years of service.

It seems a little unfair to blame Seibold for our lack of backup.
Where was this comment when he was getting praise for releasing him though?

This wasn't even the point I was attempting to make. Who cares who did what? The release was probably a little hasty in hindsight but my point was simply that it would be nice to have two people to play hooker instead of one rookie who wants to be a halfback.

I actually dont know why they dont give him a go at hooker, other than fullback or centre he is a good build for hooker like Paix, short and stocky

I would try boyd of the bench at hooker. It might suit him

First reaction was "oh...that might work..."

Second reaction was that we're already down a centre with Staggs out.

Third reaction hit me like a truck - Darius defending in the middle? NO, thanks!!

Meanwhile, down in Newcastle, this bloke is laughing to himself...

He may not be what we need long term, but boy he’d be handy right about now 🤦‍♂️
I would actually still prefer for him not to be at the the Broncos. Definitely. If McCulloughs here would that have any bearing whatsoever on the result? No it wouldn't. May as well give a young guy with some potential a shot. I'd still like an old experienced player as back up, but not one that was going to block paix's chance

Common sense prevails.

Radley free to play. Surprise surprise.
It honestly wouldn’t make a lick of difference for us this week on way or the other.

I hate being so pessimistic but realistically we’re so deep into our depth chart in several positions we’ll be doing well just to put up a respectable score line at the end of this one.

Yeah, I am not expecting a win this week. Just want the lads to have a dig.

I was happy as anyone that macca left but with hindsight we definitely would be better off having him here this round than not. Anyone arguing otherwise is being a bit silly. Now that doesn’t mean that I would reverse the swap if i could because I’m still glad he’s gone but there is a tipping point of number of weeks that Turpin is out where keeping Macca would’ve been the better decision with hindsight. That’s just facts.

Regardless, hindsight doesn’t work like that so I’m excited to see what we try at hooker while Turps is out. We’ve uncovered a few gems due to force changes the last season or two.

Cult3: Well, well, well...😏

I still stand by this being a good move, the issue was Seibold's baffling decision to play a back on a bench instead of an extra forward. As Jason Simmons pointed out, his suggestion that he planned to hook Arthars after 55 minutes just came across as silly, especially when Jennings tore through a lethargic tackle by Turpin. That experience should have gone to Paix who's a great talent, but needs to be used correctly.

I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop and see who the Broncos plan to bring in with Macca and Perese's spot. If anything, it's a good opportunity to rebalance the squad.

It should be 9. Paix 14. Hetherington but Seibs is married to this outside back on the bench idea. I understand wanting Niu in the 17 because the Broncos have next to no strike outside of Milf, it's just a shame Seibold is willing to make these half measures with his squad.

We all know who should drop out of that 13, but I can almost sense it won't happen and some poor guy will get a tap on the shoulder if he isn't killing it.

kooly isn't kidding about the Broncos depth on the edge. No Fifita, Pangai Jr, Glenn, Palasia or Riki. Hopoate and Bullemor are both last on the depth chart and I don't see either as 80 minute options. I feel Hoppa has copped a rough go of it, he's one of those players where you're going to have to take the good with the bad, he's also more of a Dean Widders type of player than a hole running option like the Broncos tried to use him as. I don't know why Oates wasn't considered an option off the bench, if ever there was a time to mix it up, this was it. Furthermore, surely if the Broncos aren't going to sign more players, they've got Piakura training with them?

Whether or not there is bias or favourites at the judiciary, why the **** is the entire panel from nsw anyway?! It's not like they are doing such a tremendous job no one from QLD or new Zealand (probably 70% of the players origin in the nrl) would be capable of doing an equal or better job.
