Why doesn’t Siebs have confidence in Paix off the bench it seems?
If Niu is starting, Seibold must be planning to shift Boyd as cover for the halves. If Turpin gets injured - or sent off - he might have to shuffle Croft into hooker, and Darbs into halfback.

Insanity if Seibold doesn’t go with Paix on the bench for Turpin. The roosters will just run traffic at Turpin and neuter his ability to control the ruck in attack.

Not looking to bring in Utility coverage for Turpin screams of us playing it safe and just hoping for a more respectable scoreline.

Full credit to him for getting through so much defensive work on Thursday night, but it was really obvious that this heavily limited him having any level of attacking impact during the match.

If we wanted a guy to just ship the ball out to the Halves and make 60 plus tackles in the middle then we sent the wrong Dummy Half off to Newcastle.

Turpin is in the job because he showed he could contribute to us having some penetration around the ruck and being able to get us on a roll going forward. If we turn him into a tackle bot because we're afraid of giving someone like Paix a short stint, then we may as well have just stuck with Macca.

The new rules make it basically essential to have a Dummy Half who can run the ball and create things around the ruck. Turpin is no Smith or Cook, but he's the best we have, and we owe it to him to help him keep fresh as much as possible so he can do the things that got him the job in the first place. If we don't do this then honestly we are going to get skinned by faster sides regularly.

How did Coates drop so low down the pecking order? Is Coates time next year or something I thought he was young GI.

Dearden appears to be outside the mix, too.

Seeing some if the other teams play compared tu us is a concern.
Seibold doesn't seem to have changed a thing.
Manly, roosters NQ Parra Knights and Tigers all had some plays which caused the defence to react up and in then put the ball through some quick hands.
Terrific to watch. Manly and NQ in particular stood out.
We are a gritty side with untold individual skill but I have seen nothing yet with that type of cohesion and awareness of where to get the ball to.

Everyone’s hitting the panic button a bit early. We didn’t come back well after a unique situation however there were positive signs to start the year.

There were some signs and plays but it was hard to execute them regularly in that game on Thursday Night because they didn’t hold the ball long enough or often enough to do anything or show much.

I do think the injuries and suspensions have probably played a fairly big part in this tho, last year we had a different team on the park every week and that seems to be continuing this year.

Roosters are fighting the Radley charge.....what could their argument possibly be? It was clearly a dangerous tackle. Hold on, we are about to get fucked hard.

The media have already started their campaign on behalf of uncle Nick declaring there is no way he can be suspended for that and it will be a travesty if he does. You can lock it in that he will be free to play.

No it's about the NRL showing some semblance of justice.

Broncos seemingly cop suspensions left right and center, whilst JWH gets a fine for similar and Burgess gets a fine for taking Moylan's head off.

If Radley gets off as well it just continues the evidence of Sydney teams getting favouritism.

I for one am fucking sick to death of Broncos being the whipping horse whist Sydney teams get a free ride.

We bring the most fans, the highest crowds, the most revenue and the TV channels want us in their prime time... and yet we cop it the hardest as a club and appear to get unjustified scrutiny from the administration.

Why?? Because the NSWRL play us as the antagonist in their fairytales

Radley means **** all in the grand scheme of this game... he's a useful backrower for their team but he's hardly the topline superstar that channel 9 make him out to be... it's the arrogance of the roosters for challenging a clear spear tackle, because the media pundits think it's a "classic tackle" and "the game's gone soft"

Agree with everything you have said here, especially the antagonist comment. The NRL is now about scripted storylines, heroes and villains, outcomes that they believe the audience want to see that will rate the highest.

We are the Maleficent in every storyline. Integral to it but no-one wants us to do well. Someone to make the good guys look good and everyone can rejoice at their demise.

100% this. Matt Johns and co all weighed in with comments like nothing to see there, surely he gets off that etc.

Staggs IMO wasn't that bad. He slid up off the ball but all the comments were negative straight away pretty much flagging a suspension.

Confirmation from Seibs this morning that Niu will be on the bench, Farnworth will start and Bullemore will replace Glenn on the left edge.

I'd expect this side named:

1. Isaako
2. Oates
3. Farnworth
4. Boyd
5. Arthars
6. Milford
7. Croft
8. Lodge
9. Turpin
10. Haas
11. Bullemore
12. Hopoate
13. Carrigan (c)

14. Niu
15. Kennedy
16. Flegler
17. Ofahengaue

Tesi confirmed to debut Thursday night.
Will come off the bench. Xavier wasn’t far off.
I feel he Xavier is now behind both Tesi and Herbie.

God damn injuries and suspensions be killing us on a yearly basis.

I think Xavier is seen as a center, but Seibs may have more faith in Arthurs defensively... Coates was an absolute liability at center last year.

1. Isaako
2. Oates
3. Arthurs
4. Boyd
5. Herbie
6. Milf
7. Croft
8. Flegler (Lodge only played 36mins or something so fitness may be a concern)
9. Turps
10. Haas
11. Bullemore
12. Hoppa
13. Carrigan

14. Nui
15. Lodge
16. Offa
17. Kennedy/Paix

Out of Lodge, Offa and Kennedy there is no 2nd row cover (except Flegler).

Paix comes in if Seibs is happy for Oates to be second row cover.
Kennedy if Seibs wants Flegler as second row cover.

I'm probably leaning towards Flegs being second row cover, so Kennedy on the bench.. may also start Flegs at 12 and drop Hoppa to the bench... but we have no cover for the halves or hooker with Kennedy there over Paix.

We defended the whole game last week so they might have got a good idea of how the middles pulled up and whether they can handle long minutes without a 3rd forward on the bench.

I think we need Paix on the bench, because I dont want to see Boyd in the halves... and I'm not sure Nui can cover 6 as the alternative. Or seeing Hoppa (probably) as the hooker coverage if something happens to Turps

I don't think Tesi is suited to the bench, he's a right centre at this stage.

What he has done well at times is support through the middle and come across on the left towards the end of last year-, he was great last year in a game against Jets where he came across on the left for Souths that was the best game I saw him play. He threw a nice pass for Soper-Lawer try on the left too against Tweed.

Just not too sure he can put all that in a game on debut with tackling in a quick reacting situation off the bench. It's a hard skill off the bench.

More likely he gets 8 minutes off the bench so don't think it matters. I'd like to see an actual role though not just the 8 minutes. If you got him roaming he showed last year for Queensland he can pass and react, he made a break in the middle off a dropped ball and then passed to Walsh to score.

I am not a fan of just using a back on the bench incase, give him a role and suited to his skill set.

This is how I would go. I think a shake up is needed. I left Oates out. Very raw backline but with injuries thats all we can do. Left Flegler and Offa on the bench rather than having no experience on the bench. Means starting Bullymore. Carrigan in the second row is our best go here. Would love to see Teo in there.

Hoppa wasnt great and dropped a lot of ball but I think we need to give him more time. Hopefully he bounces back Would drop Boyd too but not this week with Stagg out.
