Hopoate remains... I know our options are limited but damn bad performances never get accounted for. His errors were pretty much unforced errors.
I think we should stick with him. It was one bad game for a guy new to first grade. Boyd Oates and Offa are the ones who should be dropped for ongoing unprofessional displays. Although Boyd has been better this year but he doesn't offer much.Hopoate remains... I know our options are limited but damn bad performances never get accounted for. I’ve always thought Offa was better off starting as he gets better with match time and doesn’t really provide impact off the bench. Plus he is getting paid a lot too. Let hoppa come off the bench as starting is too much pressure for him.
You are right unprofessional is unfair. I take it back.I'm not seeing much unprofessional in any of those really. Oates and Joffa arent in great form but thats not the same thing.
I would start Hoppa again and give him a chance to make up for last week. Offa could start in 13. That is a good idea if you want him to play long minutes and find some form.I’ve always thought Offa was better off starting as he gets better with match time and doesn’t really provide impact off the bench. I think Joe is a dying breed in terms of middle forwards, this one referee / 6 to-go rule change is only accelerating his extinction. If you're a large middle forward with an average motor, minimal skill and don't have a reliable offload, you're probably going to be without a job in 2-3 years. That's just the way it's going.
A few off the top of my head who need to completely overhaul their body / game or risk being out of a job: Joffa, S.Boyd, Asofa-Solomona.
Klemmer is a great example of someone who HAS adapted to the changes in the game, over the last couple of years he's slimmed down so he can play longer minutes and has incorporated a very good offload and short pass into his game.
Wasn’t joe renowned for his huge motor when he was coming through the ranks?
From memory, not really. He was a big metre eater when he played NYC, but I don't think he was an 80 minute player by any stretch, even still, playing big minutes in NYC doesn't equate to anything in terms of NRL prospects.
I just don't know what his role is, perhaps he could play an Aidan Tolman style role, start at prop, play 55-60 minutes, churn out some metres and tackles. But it certainly won't be at the Broncos, he's barely in our top 17 when we're fully healthy. My prediction is that this will be the last season of Joffa at the Broncos.
Don’t worry about the contract, he’ll seek a release if Rabbitohs want him, just like almost half of their team.he is signed till 2022..... so probably not?
