we had 8 more completions, made 120 fewer tackles, made 7 less errors, comfortably won possession count, forced 5 or 6 drop outs.

it wasnt the forwards that were the problem

So what you're saying is we're like Dan and Dani from the Block. Great builder laying a solid platform but we're shit creatively and do the same thing every week?

haha dont know never watched the show.

Like noisetheory I have no idea who Dan and Dani are, but that sums it up. With all those stats, the killer is 0 line breaks, while the Roosters had 4 or 6. If the Roosters had to do that much more defence, and we couldn't conjure up a break against them with their tired legs, what the hell does that say about our performance with the ball?

You can talk up how great and committed the Roosters defence was, and that's true, but no team under that much pressure gets away with no line breaks unless they're against a pedestrian attack.

No. Disabled.

We should have poked a hole through their line with our walking sticks

i can see our attack in my head. 1 dimensional. lined out straight. centres no more than 10 metres behind the play the ball.

wasnt exactly hard work for the roosters to defend.

Exactly. Push up as a straight line. Put a modicum of pressure on Wallace or Prince, who will then throw a panic pass, or get tackled. Job done.

Didn't someone once say defence wins matches?

Nobody ever defended anything successfully, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.

There is always more spirit in attack than in defence.

Even Prince's signature move of drifting across field and turning under to a second rower... Something boys other than pass to Wallace and bomb on the last.

Got nothing. Nothing at all.

What I'm hoping to see in today's line-up.

Norman dropped. He's not with us next year, so no point in keeping him around. Hunt in the halves. He deserves to be given a decent shot.

What I'm expecting to see.

1. Norman
6. Prince
7. Wallace

Well Griffin was quoted saying Norman signing won't have any effect on his selection.

AKA I have no balls to drop players who don't serve a purpose to the future of the club because players come before the club!

Who comes in for Norman? Bond? After the Dolphins were comprehensively beaten on the weekend?

I don't really want us to keep developing Norman for Parra but Big Pete has a point. If Kemp was injury free and Kahu was playing well maybe we could explore our options but at this point we don't have any. If we sign Dugan I reckon Norman will be chopped heck I'd release him early.

I'm not keen on the chance Hoffman might be placed at fullback again, I'm liking what he is showing on the wing and i'd like the club to continue to develop him there before switching him to the centers when Hodges moves on or Reed gets dropped. So if keeping Norman in the #1 for now stops them moving Hoffman, **** it Norman can be fullback.

I do because unless these players are going to improve the side then we might as well roll with our best 17.

At this stage, Norman gets to keep his spot.
